Clio Area Schools Hall of Fame- Class of 2026
Clio Area Schools is proud to announce the Clio Area Schools Hall of Fame Class of 2026. This year's inductees are Theresa Diegel (Athlete), Gary Langdon (Staff), Ralph Forsyth (Staff) and Charlie Robey (Community Member).
The four inductees were selected by the Hall of Fame Committee from nominations submitted by the Clio community. They make up the third class honored since the Hall of Fame inducted its first members in 2024. Each of them has left a mark on Clio that reaches far beyond a scoreboard or a single season. Through their talent, their dedication and their love for this community, they represent the very best of Clio and show what it truly means to be a Mustang.
Meet the Class of 2026
Theresa Diegel, Athlete
Theresa Diegel was one of the standout golfers during Clio's girls golf run of the mid-1990s. She earned Class A All-State honors in 1995 and 1996, placed in the top 10 at the state finals in 1995 and 1997, and helped lead the Mustangs to multiple Big Nine and Regional championships. She was just as strong on the basketball court, scoring 1,425 career points (second in Clio history at the time) and earning First Team All-Big Nine honors in 1995 and 1996. She also lettered in volleyball and went on to play golf at Oakland University. Theresa was inducted in 2025 as a member of Clio's state runner-up girls golf teams and now joins the Hall of Fame individually.
Gary Langdon, Staff
Gary Langdon dedicated more than 40 years to Clio students, athletes and the community. He started in 1967 as a fifth-grade teacher, moved to the high school in 1973 where he also led Driver Education, and served as Athletic Director from 1998 to 2008. He coached for more than three decades, including 20 years in football with nine as varsity head coach. His honors include 1975 Big Nine Boys Basketball Coach of the Year, 1996 Genesee County High School Football Coach of the Year and 2006 MHSAA Regional Athletic Director of the Year.
Ralph Forsyth, Staff
Ralph Forsyth served Clio for 39 years as a teacher and coach after serving in the U.S. Army during World War II. He came to Clio in 1953 as head football and baseball coach and is best remembered for leading the wrestling program from 1962 to 1974. His wrestling teams won the 1970 Big 9 Conference title and Class A District championships in 1970 and 1971, placed third in the state in 1965 and 1970, and produced five individual state championships. He was named Genesee County Coach of the Year in 1974 and was elected to the Michigan High School Football Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993.
Charlie Robey, Community Member
Charlie Robey was one of Clio athletics' most loyal supporters for more than 60 years. A 1954 Clio graduate, he played football and basketball for the Mustangs and went on to play football in the U.S. Army while stationed in Germany. He came home, married his high school sweetheart Violet, and served the community as a Clio firefighter for 54 years. Rain or shine, home or away, you could count on seeing Charlie in his stadium seat cheering on the Mustangs and his grandchildren. In the final months of his life in 2019-20, he built a special bond with the Mustang varsity basketball team, which honored him at a home game.
Full biographies for each inductee will be released in the coming weeks. The Class of 2026 will be honored before the Varsity Boys Basketball game on Friday, February 12, 2027, at Clio High School.
The Clio Area Schools Hall of Fame recognizes athletes, teams, staff and community members whose achievements and service have made a lasting impact on Clio Area Schools. Nominations are accepted each year through April 1. For more information, visit clioathletics.org/clio-area-schools-hall-of-fame-2.
Homecoming 2026
Addison Taylor Named Kiwanis Athlete of the Month
Clio senior Addie Taylor has been named the Kiwanis Club of Flint Athlete of the Month for the Flint Metro League for September 2026 — an honor that recognizes not just what an athlete does between the lines, but who they are the rest of the time. In Addie's case, the committee had plenty to work with.
A four-year varsity softball player, Addie has been named a unanimous All-League pitcher three times, earning All-District, All-Region and All-State Honorable Mention honors in each of those seasons. She was the team's Defensive Player of the Year in 2024 and 2025 and its Most Valuable Player in 2026. She has also been a three-time Scholar Athlete, earned Academic All-State team honors, and been featured as an Athlete of the Week by ABC 12, Simms Chevrolet and Shea Auto Group, as well as on Mid-Michigan Now's "Path to Greatness." On the golf course, she has twice earned Second Team All-League and Scholar Athlete recognition. Away from Clio, she helped her Senior Little League team win back-to-back Little League World Series championships in 2025 and 2026, serving as team captain and MVP this past summer.
What stands out just as much is everything she does when she isn't competing. Addie carries a 3.71 GPA and has made High Honors every year of high school. She manages The Stable, Clio's student-led coffee shop, and the school store; she has led freshman orientation for three years and serves as an athletic liaison for incoming students; she is in her second year with National Honor Society, competes in DECA at the state and regional level and has qualified for nationals, and shoots and manages social media for the yearbook. For two years she has also volunteered as a coach for Unified Basketball — which connects directly to what comes next. Addie will continue her softball career at Wayne State University, where she plans to major in speech pathology so she can work with students with disabilities.
Congratulations, Addie. Clio is proud of you. 🧡🖤

Winter Registration Now Open
Registration for high school winter sports is open now, and each sport has its own deadline. Hockey closes first, on Friday, October 16, with tryouts beginning October 26. Competitive cheer, boys and girls bowling, and boys basketball close Friday, October 30. Cheer tryouts and bowling practice begin November 9, and boys basketball tryouts begin November 11. Wrestling and girls basketball close Friday, November 6, and both start November 16.
A parent or guardian needs to do the registering. Go to go.arbitersports.com, create the family Arbiter account, and add your athlete to it. Students should not create their own account or register themselves. One family account covers every child in your household, so if you already set one up for fall, you can use it again!
Before you start, have these ready: your athlete's six-digit school ID number (the same digits that begin their school email address), a physical dated April 15, 2026 or later, the name and phone number of an emergency contact, and insurance information if it applies. The physical gets uploaded under Participant Information.
Make sure you choose the high school section and finish every required item. A registration that is started but not finished doesn't count. The two things we see get registrations rejected are uploading anything other than the physical in that spot, and choosing the middle school section. Athletes registered under the middle school never show up on the high school coach's roster.
Need a hand? Come see us! We'll be at Clio Middle School near the main entrance on Wednesday, October 14 from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, and in the Clio High School athletic office on Thursday, October 15 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm. Any parent is welcome, middle or high school. We'll have devices available if you need one. Make sure you can get into your email account (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.), because Arbiter sends a confirmation email during setup and that's the one step we can't do for you.
The athletic fee is $100 per school year with a $250 family cap. If your athlete paid this fall, they're covered for winter and spring. If they haven't played a sport yet this year, don't pay now. The fee isn't owed until your athlete is on a roster. If you still owe for fall, that's due before the first contest. You can pay online at tinyurl.com/caspayments or in person at the HS Athletic Office (Mon/Wed/Fri 9-3, Thurs 1-3). Families who qualify for Free and Reduced-Price Lunch may be eligible for scholarship assistance, so just give us a call.
Please don't wait! You must complete registration within your sport's window and be approved before your athlete can participate. Registering early gives us time to let you know if a physical is missing or something didn't go through. If any part of this is giving you trouble, call the athletic office at 810-591-1390. We'd much rather help you through it now than turn an athlete away later. Go Mustangs!
