Sheridan High School
August 18-22
We had a wonderful first week of school, and it was great to see our students settle into routines, reconnect with friends, and begin learning with such enthusiasm. Thank you for your support in helping us get off to such a positive start.
S.W.A.R.M
At Sheridan High School, we SWARM for success! Our Yellowjackets show their pride by embodying what it means to be successful, working hard, staying accountable, showing respect, and being mindful every day. This year, we have some exciting new initiatives that highlight how our students are truly SWARMing.
We are excited to share that Sheridan High School has launched a new behavior system called MINGA. This program is designed to both celebrate and encourage positive student behavior, while also keeping families informed in a timely manner about any guidance concerns that may arise.
During our first week, we began recording positive points to recognize students who are making great choices. Starting this week, we are also implementing the tracking of minor behaviors, such as tardies, disruptions/distractions, and cell phone use, in order to provide consistent support and accountability.
Our goal with MINGA is to build a positive and thriving school culture where students are celebrated for their growth and guided when challenges occur. We look forward to working together with you to support our students’ success both inside and outside the classroom.
Thank you for your continued partnership in building a great learning environment here at Sheridan.

Technology
Students,
Last year, most of you turned in your Chromebooks and chargers—thank you!
However, a few devices are still out there. If you still have one, please return it—no questions asked—to the SHS front office. Right now, these Chromebooks are locked and cannot be used at home, but we do need them here at school so students have the tools they need to learn in class. Your help in getting them back makes a big difference—thank you!
Dress Code Reminders
We want all students to feel comfortable, safe, and ready to learn. Parents and students share the responsibility for choosing school-appropriate attire. Clothing should not pose a safety risk, cause distractions, or disrupt the learning environment.
Please avoid wearing items such as: midriff-baring tops, shoulder straps less than 3 inches wide, short skirts/shorts (more than 4 inches above the knee), see-through garments, pajamas or lounge wear, visible undergarments, offensive or suggestive messages, sagging pants, or clothing with excessive rips above the knee. Headwear, hoods, sunglasses, and shoes with cleats or wheels are also not permitted.
For a full list of dress code guidelines, please refer to page 120 of the Student Handbook, available online for parent access. Thank you for helping us maintain a positive and distraction-free environment for all students.
Student Badges
Bell to Bell, No Cell
Starting the first day of school, all students in grades K-12 must keep personal devices powered off and out of sight from the time they arrive until dismissal — including class changes, lunch, and breaks.
Devices include:
Cell phones
Smartwatches
Wireless earbuds/headphones
Tablets or laptops not issued by the district
Gaming devices
Digital cameras/recorders
Any Bluetooth-connected or media-capable device
Thank you for partnering with us to support a safe, focused, learning environment for every student!
Drop-Off & Pick-Up Reminder
Enter by the Yellowjacket Arena, pull forward toward the Annex, and drop off quickly to keep traffic moving. Watch for crosswalks and other vehicles in the morning, and in the afternoon be alert for students walking to their cars and for traffic flow. Let’s keep every arrival and dismissal safe and smooth!
