The Dragon Digest
❄️ Snow Days, Snow Boots, and Something Bigger
Well… here we are. Snow days again. I have to say, the friends and family back home in Texas keep asking me how I'm surviving in the Tundra up here. I assure them that it's beautiful, still excitingly novel, and that there is enough warmth in the buildings and in the people here to take the chill off in the best way.
At this point in the year, I'm staring to forget what a five-day school week feels like. The students are thrilled. The adults are recalculating pacing guides. And somewhere in Upper Dublin, there is a sled that has now seen more action than it did in the last three winters combined.
While we’re navigating the snow (and the creative childcare scheduling), I want to share how proud I am of what’s happening inside Jarrettown when we are together.
February gives us the opportunity to celebrate Black History Month, and the upcoming celebration is an important reminder of who we are as a school community. At Jarrettown—and across the Upper Dublin School District—inclusion isn’t a program or an initiative. It’s a mindset. It’s who we are. We work hard to make sure every student sees themselves reflected, valued, and challenged in meaningful ways.
Snow days may interrupt our schedule, but they don’t interrupt our purpose.
When we’re back together (boots, gloves, and all), we’ll continue doing what Jarrettown does best: learning together, celebrating one another, and making sure every child knows they belong here.
Stay warm, stay safe, and if you built a snowman that looks suspiciously like a staff member, I respectfully request photo evidence.

Left Turns off Limekiln Pike
Morning drop-off is a busy time, and we want to make sure every student gets to school safely. The Upper Dublin Police Department has contacted us and asked us to communicate to families that left turns from the public roadway into our traffic loop are illegal and create dangerous situations that clog up Limekiln Pike, making the street less safe for students, parents, and neighbors. Officers are now patrolling our morning drop-off and have begun issuing citations to parents taking a left turn into our car line.
We know mornings can be hectic - we are just sharing this in hope of helping UDPD keep our families safe (and keeping any of our parents from starting their day with a ticket!)
