Principal's Message
October 7, 2024
Dear Families,
As you may have seen in Friday's edition of the Common, Superintendent Downing's Newsletter, we will be mailing the students' MCAS reports on Thursday. I have reprinted his message below.
Next Thursday, October 10, 2024, Spring 2024 MCAS Parent/Guardian Reports will be mailed home to families. The MCAS Parent/Guardian Report provides families with their child’s results from the Spring 2024 Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System (MCAS) tests in English Language Arts, Mathematics, and Science and Technology/Engineering, where applicable.
The MCAS assessment is designed to measure performance based on the Massachusetts curriculum standards and to report the performance and progress, or growth, of individual students, schools, and districts over time. It is important to remember that the MCAS assessment represents only one measurement of achievement. Information about your child’s achievement in the MCAS Parent/Guardian Report should be considered alongside other assessments. At Nashoba, we have multiple assessment data measures to support our understanding of student learning needs.
As we look ahead, we will continue to work towards continual improvement for all students. We see parents as critical partners in the success of our students and school, and we are grateful for the continued support of our families. The following site contains resources that may be helpful: MCAS Resources for Parents and Guardians.

Innovation Pathway Survey
Nashoba Regional High School is proud to offer two Innovation Pathways: Business & Finance and Advanced Engineering & Manufacturing. These pathways are designed to give students hands-on learning experiences through internships, capstone projects, and technical and advanced level coursework, while partnering with local employers to expose students to high-demand careers. The goal is to help students build practical skills and make informed decisions about their futures. To learn more check out our Innovation Pathways website!
In this inaugural year, the program is off to a strong start and has generated high interest among students. Building on this success, we are excited to explore the addition of a third pathway: the Information Pathway! This pathway would dive into industries focused on producing and distributing information and cultural products, transmitting these products, and processing data. Key areas include broadcasting, publishing, digital media creation, computer science, and data processing.
To ensure the Information Pathway aligns with student interests and community needs, we are inviting families with Nashoba students in Grades 6-10 to speak with their children and complete our brief survey. We've extended the deadline until Friday, October 18th, 2024.

If you have previously had an account, please log in and update your child(ren)'s grade and teacher so that it is up to date. Information does not automatically update, unfortunately!

Volunteers Needed
PTO Volunteers Needed—Be Part of Something Great!
The Bolton PTO is calling on YOU to help make this school year the best one yet! We're an all-volunteer organization dedicated to supporting our school through innovative teaching supplies, enriching activities, field trips, teacher appreciation, and so much more. Whether you can spare a few hours a year, month, or week, we have a place for you!
This week we’d like to highlight the need for volunteers to help with planning the 2024 FSS Bingo Night. This popular night for family fun happens in November (Event date TBD) and the 2025 Bolton PTO Auction, our biggest fundraiser of the year, which will take place in March! If you are interested in joining either of these committees, please contact Event Fundraising Chair Sara Brazer at sarabrazer@gmail.com
Save the Date for our popular family event, Bingo Night!
Bingo Night is scheduled for Friday, November 15, at 6 pm. Tickets will go on sale THIS WEEK. We will also be looking for donations to support the event. More information will be included in next week's Happenings.
Picture Day is coming up October 16th. Look for order forms coming home soon. We need volunteers to help that day! If you can offer a few hours, please contact Melinda Neyland at wpiee00@yahoo.com.
What do volunteers need to help with on picture day?
For individual photos, we need help getting students lined up to the photographers in a timely fashion and assist students in making sure they are neat and 'picture ready' (have collars straightened, hair smoothed, intending for jacket to be on or off, etc.) If students have order forms or envelopes, these can be collected and handed to the photographers.
For group photos, we need help with keeping students lined up with their class (or grade for middle school students) and then ensuring they are organized or tiered per the photographer recommendation.
As a reminder, similar to other visits and volunteer opportunities in school, volunteers will need to ensure that they have an up-to-date CORI on file. If you have any questions about your status (and whether it remains current), please check in with the front office prior to Picture Day.
Any questions, please email Melinda Neyland at wipee00@yahoo.com.
