Principal's Notes Principal's Notes

We kicked off this week with a field trip to the Museum of Science for 5th grade students. Many thanks to the PTO for helping to organize this learning opportunity for our students and funding the activities through the dues! We ended the week with a celebration of love and friendship with Valentine's Day. We hope that everyone enjoys the February vacation week with lots of fun and relaxation!

Third graders will be hosting the Community Meeting on Monday, February 23rd at 9:05am. Parents are welcome to join us!

Students begin and end their school days on the bus under the care of our bus drivers. They work to ensure the safety of our students on the road so today we took the opportunity to celebrate them and show our appreciation for their work. Happy School Bus Driver Appreciation Day!

Officer Phelps serves as the School Resource Officer at all four schools in town. He visits often to walk the hallways and classrooms, to greet students in the morning, and to teach safety lessons during the year. He helps to coordinate police department involvement with community events like the Winter Festival. Today we also celebrated School Resource Officer Appreciation Day for our very own Officer Phelps!

Ms. Anna Mullen will continue on at Cole School this spring as the substitute for Mrs. Lauren Sokolowski when she takes her parental leave at the end of March. Ms. Mullen will begin to make this transition upon Mrs. Walsh's return mid-March. We are so fortunate to have Ms. Mullen continuing on with us for the remainder of the year.

Magnificent Meerkats Magnificent Meerkats

We have already recognized students about 700 times this year as Magnificent Meerkats! That's a lot of great behavior happening at Cole School!

This week students were nominated for:

  • He has been a leader during Choice Time hosting his own hat making center! It's been fun to watch him be so proud to run a center of his own and his peers love his ideas! Thank you for showing such wonderful expected behaviors!
  • She helped a younger student find gloves in the lost and found as he was preparing to go out for recess. We appreciate her looking out for and assisting students throughout Cole School just as she does in our classroom.
  • For being so accepting and respectful to her peers and being inclusive and kind to others.
Way to go, Magnificent Meerkats! Keep shining brightly!

Hello Cole Families! In our Second Step lessons, students are learning about kindness and empathy. They are practicing understanding how others feel and how to respond appropriately. With February vacation coming up, it can be a time for you to practice this at home with your child. You can model kind words and encourage your child to consider how their actions might affect others. Challenge your child to do small acts of kindness such as helping a sibling, writing a thank you note, and checking on a friend. I hope you and your families have a safe and happy February vacation!

Students climbed over a waterfall, swung over hungry crocodiles using a vine, traveled on top of turtles, scaled over a mountain, navigated through a bamboo forest while avoiding lions and hyenas and rolled over a fallen tree as part of our Jungle Obstacle Course.
