Welcome to the 26-27 school year!

We are excited to welcome our students and families back to Roseau Elementary and look forward to another great year together. This year, our theme is “Every Student. Every Day.” At Roseau Elementary, we truly believe that relationships matter. Building strong relationships with our students is at the heart of what we do each and every day. We want every student to feel welcomed, loved, supported, valued, and to know they belong here!

We are looking forward to a great school year and working together with our families to help every student learn, grow, and have a great year!

Every Student. Every Day!

Enthusiastically,

Bryce Lingen

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st is the first day of school! TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 1st is the first day of school!

A little about Mr. Lingen... A little about Mr. Lingen...

This year marks my 29th year in education, my 6th year at Roseau, and my 4th year as elementary principal. I truly enjoy coming to school each day and feel very fortunate to be part of the Roseau Elementary family. I try to bring a positive attitude each day and help make our school a place where kids enjoy coming, feel loved and supported, and know they belong. One of the best parts of my job is building relationships with our students, staff, and families. I’m excited for another great year together and can’t wait to welcome our students back!

Outside of school, my family is my everything. My wife of 28 years, Nicole, is a chiropractor. Our son, Brevyn, is a 3rd grade teacher, and his wife, Kylie, is a nurse. Our daughter, Brylee, has one year of college remaining and will graduate with her nursing degree. And then there’s Ace, our 3-year-old dog, who pretty much runs the house! I’m incredibly proud of my family and grateful for every opportunity we have to spend time together.

First Day and Arrival Reminders First Day and Arrival Reminders

Getting Off to a GREAT Start!

  • Doors open at 8:00 a.m. The school day runs from 8:30 a.m.–3:15 p.m.
  • General Drop-Off/Pick-Up: Please use the North Doors (N1). Use the right side for drop-off/pick-up and the left lane to drive through. Please DO NOT PARK OR STOP in the left lane.
  • Students should report to their classroom when they arrive at school on Day 1 (after breakfast, locker, and bathroom).

Walking Your Child In

We know the first day of school is special, and parents/guardians are welcome to walk their child to the classroom on the first day. Beginning on Day 2, we ask that families say their goodbyes at the elementary entrance rather than walking students to their classrooms. This helps us maintain safe and consistent morning routines, helps students build independence, and allows our teachers to focus on welcoming students and getting the school day started.

  • As a reminder, breakfast and lunch are free again this year (payment is only needed for seconds and extra milk). See the GREAT September lunch menu toward the end of the newsletter!

1. Cell Phones, Smartwatches & Communication
During the school day, communication with your child should go through their teacher and/or the elementary office. At the elementary level, cell phones should remain in lockers and should not be used during the school day. If cell phones or smartwatches are being misused during the school day, parents will be contacted and may be asked to have the device remain at home. Thank you for helping us maintain a focused and positive learning environment!

2. Contact Information
If you need to update your phone number, mailing address, email address, or emergency contact information, please contact Mrs. Simmons in the elementary office. Keeping this information current is extremely important!

3. Meeting With Teachers
If you would like to meet with your child's teacher, please contact the teacher ahead of time to schedule a time that works for both of you. This helps ensure our teachers are available and able to give you their full attention.

4. Arriving Late or Leaving Early
For safety purposes, students arriving late or leaving early need to be checked in or out through the elementary office. Please communicate with your child's teacher regarding the change and be sure to stop at the office when arriving or leaving.

5. Elementary Entrance
K–6 students who are not riding the bus and are entering on the north end should use the Main Elementary Entrance (N1).

6. Bussing Questions
For questions or concerns regarding bussing, please contact Mr. Osweiler at kurt_osweiler@roseauschool.org or 218-463-1942.

7. Attendance & Absences
If your child will be absent from school, please notify the elementary office. Regular attendance is an important part of student success, and communication from families helps us make sure every student is accounted for each day.

8. End-of-Day Changes
If your child's normal end-of-day plans need to change, please communicate the change with your child's teacher and/or the elementary office as early as possible. This helps us make sure students get where they need to go safely.

**As always, if you have questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to call, email, or stop by the elementary office. We are here to help!

Food Service Updates and Links

Roseau Community School offers healthy meals each day. All students can get one breakfast and one lunch free of charge each day at school. Although no application is required to receive this free meal benefit, filling out the Application for Educational Benefits is still important! Your child(ren) may qualify for other benefits like reduced fees at school. Your application may also help the school qualify for education funds, discounts, and other meal programs.

Roseau Community Schools encourages all families to apply for Educational Benefits. It’s easy.

There are a couple ways to apply.

  1. Educational Benefits Forms have been mailed to every student household in the school district. Complete the form and return it via mail or email.

  2. Forms are also available at the elementary and high school school offices, as well as the Roseau Community School district office.

  3. Online, click on Skyward Family Access, log-in, and complete the Educational Benefits Form.

Our office staff is available to assist you, Monday - Friday, 7:30 - 4:00 p.m. If your student(s) attend Roseau Elementary call 218-463-2746 or Roseau High School call 218-463-2770 for additional information.
