QOHS Weekly Newsletter
Updates & Information for Students, Staff & Families
October 18, 2026
Dear QOHS Students and Families,
This past week was exceptionally exciting at QO. We welcomed hundreds of families to our Academics Program Showcase, highlighting our future Biotechnology, Clinical Healthcare-Medical Assistant, Music, Visual Art, and Theatre programs for rising 9th graders. Our guests heard directly from current students about their amazing experiences at QO, emphasizing interdisciplinary learning and rich extracurricular activities that deepen their connection to our community. Attendees were also treated to a sneak peek performance from our theatre students of our upcoming production, Come From Away, showcasing the remarkable quality of our program.
In addition to our Theatre Cabaret Night, theatre students spent a day exploring New York City. They visited the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, gaining firsthand insights through moving exhibits and artifacts in preparation for their upcoming production. Afterwards, students headed to Broadway to see The Outsiders: A New Musical, winner of four Tony Awards, followed by dinner in Times Square before returning to Maryland.
Our week concluded with the Athletics Hall of Fame, a wonderful celebration honoring athletes, coaches, and administrators for their lasting contributions to Quince Orchard High School. Not even Friday night's severe thunderstorms could dampen the festivities!
However, heavy rain flooded the field, forcing us to postpone our Varsity Football game to Monday night. We hope to see everyone at the Cougar Dome at 6:30 PM!
Upcoming Events:
Tuesday, 10/20: Booster Club and PTSA Meeting at 7:00 PM (Media Center)
Friday, 10/23: Varsity Football at Northwest HS at 6:30 PM
Warmest Regards,
Irina LaGrange, Ed.D.
Principal
Quince Orchard High School

Testing Accommodations
Testing Accommodations for the College Board Tests (AP, SAT, PSAT)
In order to receive accommodations on these tests, a student must request the accommodations by submitting a Student Eligibility Form. The form must be completed by both parents and school officials and then mailed to the College Board at least seven weeks in advance of the student taking the first test.
Please review the criteria established by the College Board for requesting testing accommodations:
https://accommodations.collegeboard.org/request-accommodations/request
Please follow the link below to identify the process for submitting a request for ACT Test Accommodations and English Learner Supports:
https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration/accommodations.html
**Please note that students who have an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) or a 504 Plan are not guaranteed that College Board or ACT will provide accommodations. The College Board requires current neuropsychological testing (within the past three years) which documents the specific need for each requested accommodation.
All IEP students should work with Ms. Samantha Carter to complete the accommodation request(s) and students with a 504 Plan should work with Ms. Jessica Conter or their counselor.
This years AP coordinator is Mrs. Andrea Buckley. Please e-mail her with any questions regarding AP testing.
Please contact Ms. Jessica Conter, Resource Counselor in the Counseling Office (240-740-3620) if you have any further questions about this process.
