Teacher Spotlights โก
Ms. Monita - Modeling a High Performance Culture
Ms. Monita did an amazing job modeling for some of our new teachers on how to have a high performance culture in the classroom. She modeled real-time in the classroom and observed and offered feedback to the new teachers, as needed. Ms. Monita is a future teacher leader and already shining her light brightly; passing down her depth of knowledge to grow our campus teacher capacity.
Ms. Kolb - Scores a PERFECT 15pts!!!
Ms. Kolb was recently observed during her classroom instruction by Principal Carter. She was teaching the students about Standard Algorithms. During her lesson she led her students to mastery of the concepts being presented and had 100% engagement during the SPOT observation. The lesson was high energy and fully aligned to the lesson objective. Ms. Kolb scored the first perfect 15pts of the school year. Way to go Ms. Kolb!!

**REMINDER** HAVE THOSE FLASHERS ON IN THE CARPOOL LINE***
Thank you to everyone that email suggestions from your personal perspective of the new process. The suggestions were all read and most of them addressed. We focused on those suggestions that were for the overall enhancement of the process and the community at-large.
In the process of refining the carpool area, we had many parents that decided to no longer drive through the carpool area which caused a major influx of participation in the parent walk ups. This process had to then be re-evaluated as we were not originally staffed to support the number of students that doubled due to this shift.
However, as of Friday -- the Walker/Bus/Walk Ups dismissal ran from 3:00pm (time of dismissal) and ended at 3:10pm. The carpool area ran from 3:00pm (time of dismissal) and ended at 3:20pm.
This process from day #1 to day #5 saw vast improvements and it was due to the hard work of the entire staff and the positive community input -- THANK YOU!
NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENCE DRIVEWAYS OR BLOCK THEIR DRIVEWAYS. HISD POLICE WILL BE ISSUING CITATIONS THIS UPCOMING WEEK FOR VIOLATORS. RESIDENCE ARE ASKED TO TAKE PHOTOS OF THE LICENSE PLATES OF ANY VIOLATORS AS WELL. PLEASE DO NOT PARK IN THESE AREAS!!
Did you see an improvement in the Arrival Process by Friday?

Understanding the Transportation Policy ๐
We are committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of all our students, especially during dismissal. To better manage this process, we kindly ask that any requests to change how your child will be transported homeโsuch as switching from being a car rider to walking home, or vice versaโbe communicated to us at least 24 hours in advance.
Please note that students are held in separate areas of the building at dismissal due to our large student population. It is very time consuming for staff and confusing for students when their mode of transportation is switched and proper communication has not be submitted to the campus in advance. When we have to locate a student in a separate holding area this stalls the process for other parents and students to be dismissed.
Walker Tags:
- These are students grades 2nd - 5th that have an ORANGE walker tag attached to their backpack. This signifies to the staff that this student's parent has signed a release for this student to exit the building UNSUPERVISED to walk home.
- Students grade PreK-1st are eligible for a RED walker tag. This indicates that they MUST have a "Walking Buddy" that is in 2nd grade or higher to walk with them out of the building. This is someone that will be responsible for safely walking home with this student. This can be a sibling, other family member or identified family friend. Students with RED tag WILL NOT be allowed to exit the building without a "walking buddy" or an adult.
Parent Walk Ups:
- These are parents that would like to stand the "walk-up" line to retrieve their student at dismissal.
- Parents are assigned a colored ticket with their student's name from the front desk.
- Parents will hand the ticket to the assigned staff members working dismissal. The staff member will then retrieve the student from the holding area and escort them to the parent to do a hand to hand dismissal of the student.
Car Riders:
- These are students that will be picked up in the carpool lane.
- Parents/Family picking up the student must have the designated car pick up tag to identify themselves as the authorized person picking up the student.
- The car tag must be in the windshield of the the vehicle upon arrival for staff to alert the holding area of your arrival for pick up.
- We will tagging backpacks to identify car riders this week.
Bus Riders:
- These are students assigned to either an HISD School Bus or Daycare facility bus.
- We will tagging backpacks to identify bus riders this week.
