School Safety: Working Together to Keep Our Huskies Safe
At Oakwood, the safety and well-being of our students are always our top priorities. Creating a safe school community is a shared responsibility, and we appreciate our families partnering with us to ensure every student feels safe, supported, and ready to learn. We encourage families to talk with their children regularly about school safety in ways that are calm, reassuring, and appropriate for their age.
Tips for Talking with Your Child About Safety:
Keep conversations calm and reassuring. Remind your child that there are trusted adults at school who work hard every day to keep students safe.
Encourage open communication. Let your child know they can always talk to you or a trusted adult at school if something makes them feel uncomfortable, worried, or unsafe.
Remind them to speak up. Encourage your child to report concerning behavior, threats, or anything that doesn't feel right to a trusted adult.
Practice safe choices. Review the importance of following staff directions, participating in safety drills, and keeping hands, feet, and objects to themselves.
Listen to their concerns. Give your child time to ask questions, share their feelings, and express worries without judgment.
Thank you for being our partners in keeping Oakwood a safe, caring, and supportive place for every student. Together, we can help our Huskies feel secure, connected, and ready to learn!
