Annual Emergency Update
Each year it's important to complete the annual emergency update. This includes the Use of Technology so students can use the iPads for instructional purposes. Thanks to every family who has already completed the form. If you haven't, please do so today!
Who do I contact when/if my child is sick? π€’
If your child is sick for several days and is able to work a little, consider sending the classroom teacher a Schoology message to get work. They can send it in Schoology or you can pick it up.
Upon receiving a Doctor's note, you may upload that into the Excused Absence Form , located on the Berkeley County Website under the Attendance Tab & in each MRI Newsletter. You can also send it in with your child when they return.
September is Attendance Awareness Month. We remind you to STRIVE for LESS than 5!
Absence Note
Be sure to submit your child's absence note when they miss school.
Parent Drop-off
AM Drop-off is 8:20-8:40am in the back.
We are working to make improvements with parent drop-off. Some of our staff are having trouble getting into the parking lot. To help us, please do not come and sit in our lot prior to 8am. This will allow our staff to pull in, park and be ready for students.
- Unload 3 cars at a time. Students should walk on the sidewalk and enter through door #14. There will be staff members out back to monitor our students.
Parent Pick-up π
PM Pick-up is 3:20-3:40pm in the back.
The afternoon bell rings at 3:20pm & we have brief announcements. Parent Pick-up & Bus Call
immediately follow.
Be sure to have your ID! π
If you will be picking your child up each day, you should have a pick-up number. If you are picking your child up instead of riding the bus home, please PLAN AHEAD & SEND A NOTE when your child comes to school. If something comes up and a change is needed, please notify the office by NOON so we can place your child's name on the pick up list and inform the teacher.
If you are choosing to pick your child up each day and are frustrated by the car lineβ¦you can help!
1. Please drive slowly while on campus. Students are loading/unloading vehicles & buses and staff members are helping to keep our traffic pattern open & moving.
2. Please do not come into the back parking lot before 2:50pm. This is a safety concern because our last recess time ends at 2:50pm and we need a safe re-entry for our students and staff.
3. Be sure you have your ID ready. Regular parent pick-up numbers should be displayed.
Not sure how pick-up goes?
1. Upon entering the back parking lot, vehicles will proceed around to the loading area. (marked by a star on map).
2. If the back parking lot is full, cars will be directed to line up at the middle school.
3. As cars exit the parking lot, cars from the middle school will be told to advance to the MRI back parking lot.
4. Families will remain in their cars.
5. A staff member will be looking for the parent pick up number assigned to student.
Staff members are REQUIRED to check IDs EVERYDAY
Schoology
Be sure to get connected & stay connected with your child's teacher and MRI through Schoology. If you are not connected yet and don't have an access code, it will be coming home this week. Schoology will be your go-to for your child's grades, lessons/activities in the classroom (teacher lesson plans) class news and all communication with the teachers! Get connected!
School info? Where is it?
LSIC
We are in need of 3 parents/guardians who are willing to participate on our Local School Improvement Council. We will meet 4 times throughout the year and review discipline, instructional growth and safety at MRI.
Upcoming meetings will be 7:45-8:15am.

Volunteer - Chaperone
If you're interested in volunteering at MRI, please complete procedures on the BCS website. All volunteers must follow the steps to complete the Megan's Law first. Once that's completed, the directions for the Level I background check will be sent from the central office. All chaperones for MRI field trips must be a Level I approved volunteer.
