Super School Visit: Camacho Elementary

Days might be cut short on Early Release Wednesdays, but that doesn't mean learning is! At Camacho Elementary, the great teachers are packing great material into less time, thanks to supportive families and a fantastic team. Enjoy a tour through in-person and virtual classrooms with Superintendent Bruce Gearing, Ed.D. and Camacho principal Gena Fleming.

Super School Visits offer a first-hand look into a new and evolving learning environment. Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, our schools have risen to the challenge and ensured relationships are happening. Learning is happening. #LISDIsHappening

The time is now to come together in support of our LISD teachers! The time is now to come together in support of our LISD teachers!

As our teachers begin to assess damage in their classrooms this week, we know they will need us. Help them recreate, rebuild, and recover quickly by donating or creating a peer-to-peer fundraiser at https://www.amplifyatx.org/organizations/leef. Thank you for your support and help spreading the word!

District reschedules Equity and Diversity Listening Sessions to March

Due to the recent weather crisis, LISD decided to reschedule our Equity and Diversity Listening Sessions to March. We encourage our community to register for an upcoming session and sign up for our Equity and Diversity Discussion Group on Remind. As always, we appreciate your patience as we continue to prioritize these crucial conversations.

Help Us Plan for Growth: Join the Facility Advisory Committee

Leander ISD is seeking more than 100 volunteers to join our Citizens’ Facility Advisory Committee (CFAC) as we create our long-range facility plan and continue to manage growth across our 200-square miles. Learn how you can volunteer for our CFAC.

Annual School Quality Survey Deadline Extended

Families now have until Sunday, March 7 to complete Leander ISD’s school quality survey. Due to last week’s winter storm, we’re offering more time to participate.

This confidential survey asks questions that are designed to get opinions on academic and student support, safety and behavior, school leadership, family involvement, and more. Learn more about our School Quality Survey.

Expanded Virtual Learning Options for 2021-2022 Secondary Students

Board Briefs - Jan. 28 and Feb. 22

The winter storms paused meetings of our Board of Trustees but didn’t stop them or the work. Trustees met on Jan. 28 to approve the 2021-22 academic calendar, support our committee’s recommendations around equity and diversity, extend the superintendent’s contract, and discuss the graduate profile. On Feb. 22, the Board took steps to repair buildings damaged by the winter storms, discussed the elementary school zoning plan (vote comes Feb. 25), and approved further exploration to create a permanent virtual high school option for students.

Bad Weather Make-Up Day

April 12 will be a regular school day to make up for the snow day on Jan. 11. Students need the minutes and staff contracts require employees to make up the time, therefore, we will use the bad weather makeup day allocated in our calendar. For our secondary students, this will be an A day.
