Honor Differences & Care for Others”

GRE WILL VIEW THE SOLAR ECLIPSE MONDAY GRE WILL VIEW THE SOLAR ECLIPSE MONDAY

Solar Eclipse | The Dr. Binocs Show | Educational Videos For Kids

Gold Rush students and staff will view the partial solar eclipse on Monday, April 8th from 12:35-12:45PM. This is a great real world learning opportunity. Students will learn how the solar eclipse occurs in their classrooms prior to viewing it.

Please know that the school purchased special protective glasses for each student and staff member. Looking directly at the sun without this protective eyewear can cause damage. Please make sure you have ordered protective glasses if you are planning on viewing the eclipse at home. Students will have indoor recess as an added precaution Monday.

SPOTLIGHT ON LUNCH/RECESS AIDES: KINDNESS SPOTLIGHT ON LUNCH/RECESS AIDES: KINDNESS

As you are aware, Gold Rush has the first Young Rotarians Club in the world! Each year the Young Rotarian's Club completes local and international service projects. Prior projects include decorating bags for a meal delivery service for the elderly, creating health care bags for individuals in Africa and quilting sleep bags for children in need.

This year GRE's Young Rotarians decided to celebrate individuals in our school community. Students focused on five groups of individuals that directly impacted our entire school, namely our school resource officer, the lunch and recess aides, our cafeteria staff and the PTO. Students created kindness videos that highlight the character traits that each group embodies. These videos were modeled off of Steve Hartman's Kindness 101 video highlighting service. Click here to view the video.

The Young Rotarians Club is sharing their videos with students and staff. They also wanted to share them with our parent community. This week we are highlighting our lunch and recess aides. We hope that you will watch and see how our amazing aides model kindness each day.

We could not be more proud of our students for recognizing others and spreading kindness!

CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS CLASS PLACEMENT PROCESS

We know that creating a positive, collaborative learning environment is essential to all students’ success. Creating balanced classes that meet the needs of all students is a difficult endeavor. This process involves hours of thoughtful dialogue between classroom teachers, administrators and other staff members. The school takes this responsibility seriously and takes each child into consideration.

We value parent input and welcome any insight you wish to share about your child’s strengths, needs and learning style. We will take into consideration all pertinent information that you share with the principal on or before Friday, April 12. While we welcome your input, we cannot honor specific teacher requests. Please share your thoughts on this google doc. Please make sure you communicate your thoughts via the google doc so we can track your input and refer back to it throughout the process.
