A Heartfelt Thank You
As we close out the school year, I want to take a moment to thank YOU—from the bottom of my heart—for the trust, support, and partnership you’ve shown this year. This was my first year as principal at Zitzman Elementary, and it’s been a year full of growth, learning, and meaningful connection.
Even in my sixth year of school leadership, this year brought many firsts. Through every celebration, challenge, and breakthrough, one thing remained clear: raising and educating a child takes a true team effort.
We’ve worked intentionally to build a strong bridge between home and school. I’m proud of the trust and open communication we’ve built together, and I’m grateful for the grace and support you’ve extended along the way. You’ve welcomed me into this school community with open arms, and I am honored and privileged to walk alongside you in supporting every single Zitzman student—and their families as a whole.
At Zitzman, we believe in putting in the work, the heart, and the time because every child matters. And thanks to your partnership, we’ve continued to root ourselves in our shared values and rise together to help our kids grow, learn, and shine.
Thank you for being part of this journey. I’m so excited for what lies ahead, and I can’t wait to continue growing together in the years to come.
Leading & Learning with a smile,
Dr. Sladek
Summer School – Waitlist Still Open!
Summer is just around the corner, which means it’s time to start thinking about Summer Discovery at Zitzman! Our initial sign-up window has closed, but the waitlist is still open and we’d love to have more students join us.
We’re very close to opening additional sections at a few grade levels, so if we get just a few more sign-ups, spots may become available. The Roots of Zitzman
🌟 May Focus: Celebrating the 8 Pillars of Success! 🌟
Throughout this school year, we’ve focused on one pillar each month — from Citizenship to Resilience — helping our students root deeply into strong character and rise into their best selves. In May, we are pulling all 8 Pillars of Success together! Now is the time to celebrate the strong, thoughtful, and capable students and staff we have built throughout the year.
Each pillar matters every day, and together, they create the foundation of success not just at school, but in life. 💜
Here are a few ways families can practice the 8 Pillars at home this month:
-
Citizenship: Volunteer together or pick up litter in your neighborhood.
-
Collaboration: Cook a meal or complete a puzzle as a family team.
-
Creativity: Start a "design challenge" — build something fun out of recyclables!
-
Critical Thinking: Talk through a problem together and brainstorm solutions.
-
Responsibility: Let your child take the lead on a household chore for a week.
-
Respectfulness: Practice using kind words and active listening at the dinner table.
-
Communication: Hold a family meeting where everyone shares a highlight of their day.
-
Resilience: Encourage each other to keep trying when something feels hard.
Let’s finish strong — rooted in character and rising toward success! 🌱💬🏛
