Welcome back to School!
Our Grade 1 Students are hard art work learning about recess rules and getting along!
Celebrating 125 Years of Saint Peter School!
As many of you have heard, this year is a very special year for Saint Peter School. SPS was founded in 1901 and opened its doors to students on the first of September that year. For the last 125 years, we have been in continuous operation serving our Church and the broader Cambridge community. We are proud of our heritage and so glad that you are all here with us this year!
This year you will hear a lot about our 125th anniversary, and the coming celebrations!
Our community wouldn't be possible without many people working hard behind the scenes to make sure that our students are in the right place and have all of their materials. Pictured above is Mr. Jeremy Daley, our assistant Chef. Mr. Daley helped the school the last two weeks to get books into classrooms, fix chairs, and even helped to make food for our teachers during their Welcome Week.
Our Facilities team has also been hard at work all summer improving our steam system, cleaning and polishing floors, painting, organizing, and many other tasks! We are so grateful for our entire team!
Our school is also a dynamic and growing community. This photo, taken at the Teacher Welcome Week, shows three members of the faculty: Mr. Ethan Selby (Due: November), Mr. Jeremy Daley (Born: Over the Summer), and Dr. Evan Kristiansen (Due: October); all of whom are expecting (or have recently had) children this school year. The teachers all chipped in to get each family a gift for their new child. Thank you to all teachers for their generosity! We are so excited to be a part of the lives of every family our school touches!
General Announcements
This is a mid-week newsletter; usually newsletters will arrive on Friday each week from the school. This newsletter is being sent out just as a mid-week check in on the first week of school.
Mass Tomorrow
Please be advised that tomorrow is our first all-school Mass of the school year. Parents are welcome to attend. For security reasons, everyone must enter the church through the Concord Avenue door (the others will be locked) and will be greeted by a member of the parish staff. We will also very likely have a police officer outside of the church tomorrow morning.
- If you arrive on time (before 8:00am) please drop-off as usual.
- If you arrive after 8:00am, children should be directed to the main office and will be walked over to the church.
- If you arrive after 8:15am), your child will need to wait by the main office until mass is over.
Our K1/K2 classes will join us for mass in about one month!
Pickup and Dropoff Procedures
Please review the pickup and drop-off procedures outlined in the Family Handbook, section 2.2. Special care should be taken to follow our safety regulations including:
- Dropping off students only in dedicated zones
- Staying in your car
- Scheduling meetings with teachers rather than having long conversations at pickup
- Not parking on the school hill or on the main road (you may get a ticket for this!)
Health Forms
If you have recently received an email from the Nurse's office, please respond immediately. It is against policy to keep students in attendance at the school if they have not submitted health records to the nurse's office. Please contact nurse@saint-peter-school.org to avoid an interruption to your student's attendance!
