Bulldog BARK

"At NCHS every student graduates college and career ready with 21st century skills."

As another school year comes to a close, I want to take a moment to thank our students, staff, families, and community for making this year a successful one. Together, we celebrated achievements, overcame challenges, and continued to build a school culture that supports learning, growth, and belonging for all students.

The summer months provide an opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend time with family and friends. I encourage our students to enjoy their break while also finding time to read, explore new interests, and continue learning in ways that are meaningful to them. Every experience, whether through travel, work, volunteering, or simply spending time with loved ones, can provide valuable lessons and memories.

I am incredibly proud of the dedication and hard work demonstrated by our staff throughout the year. Their commitment to our students extends far beyond the classroom and is a major reason for the success we see at North Caroline High School. I also want to thank our families for their continued support and partnership. Together, we help create opportunities for our students to thrive.

While summer offers a well-deserved break, we are already looking ahead and preparing for another exciting school year. We are eager to welcome our students back in the fall and continue the important work of helping every student reach their full potential.

On behalf of the entire North Caroline High School staff, I wish you a safe, relaxing, and enjoyable summer. Thank you for your continued support of our school.

We look forward to seeing everyone back soon.

WE ARE...BULLDOGS!

Hello Bulldog Families,

As we wrap up our first year as a Community School, we want to take a moment to celebrate all that we have accomplished together at North Caroline High School!

This first year was focused on building relationships, identifying needs, connecting resources, and creating systems that support students, families, staff, and community partners. Throughout the school year, these efforts were carried out through intentional collaboration and direct support of our school community, including:

• Providing a state testing incentive trip to the movies for students who participated in and qualified through state testing.
• Conducting a comprehensive Needs Assessment to better understand the strengths and needs of our school community. This report will be shared with families for review.
• Funding transportation for an AP field trip to Washington DC to ensure students had access to valuable learning experiences.
• Supporting students by funding the after-school bus service throughout this school year.
• Enhancing learning spaces throughout NCHS with new tables, chairs, desks, and desk-chair combinations.
• Connecting individual students, staff, and families with resources and assistance, such as DSS, Mental Health Providers, Food pantries, and necessary appointments, when support was needed.
• Collaborating with TRIO Upward Bound and Choptank Community Health to provide after-school tutoring and enrichment programming for students.
• Chaperoning a Next Generation Scholars college visit to Johns Hopkins University, helping students explore postsecondary opportunities and campus life.
• Ensuring resources and community supports were available to staff, students, and families during Back-to-School Night, Fall Fest, and our Spring Unity Fair.
• Meeting and communicating with families to identify barriers impacting student success and attendance, while working collaboratively to connect them with resources and supports that help create a school environment where students feel welcomed, supported, and motivated to learn.
• Discreetly distributing weekend food bags to students enrolled in the Caroline Helping Hands Weekend Bag Program to help address food insecurity and ensure students had access to meals outside of school hours.
• Coordinating with Lockerman Middle School and local community partners to facilitate a Thanksgiving giveaway, in which our SGA and Aaron's Place packed and distributed boxes of food to those within our community.
• Serving on the School Improvement Plan Stakeholder Committee to ensure that the voices of students, families, staff, and community partners were represented in school improvement efforts.
• Working to remove barriers for staff and community partners by fostering meaningful relationships, improving communication, and creating opportunities for partners to feel welcomed, valued, and connected within our school community.
• Collaborating with the Girl Scouts to help stock and maintain our Care Closet, ensuring students have access to essential hygiene items, clothing, and other necessities that support their well-being and success.

We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of the students, families, staff members, and community partners who participated in surveys, focus groups, meetings, and events throughout the year. Your feedback, experiences, and voices have helped shape the future of Community Schools at NCHS.

As we move into Years Two and Three, we will continue building upon the findings from our first-year Needs Assessment and work collaboratively to address the priorities identified by our school community. We are excited to continue growing, strengthening partnerships, and creating more opportunities for our students and families.

Thank you for being a part of our first year as a Community School. We look forward to what we can accomplish together in the years ahead!

Go Bulldogs!
