Students in grades 7-11 have been participating in benchmark testing through the Aimsweb+ platform over the last couple of weeks. This testing will wrap up in both ELA and math classes this week. This testing is done three times a year -- once in the fall, winter, and spring -- to help teachers identify students' strengths and needs. In conjunction with other testing and academic performance, benchmark testing also helps us identify students who may be in need of additional support in math and ELA.

Lockdown Drill Lockdown Drill

Last Tuesday, in conjunction with the Massachusetts State Police and the Lee Police Department, we held our most recent lockdown drill at LMHS. This was what is called an "organic" drill, where the call for a lockdown was started by a classroom teacher instead of an announcement over the public address system. The lockdown announcement spread across the building, and was followed by an overhead announcement. The police and staff members then visited each locked-down classroom to check on procedures. The drill was successful; we will continue with such exercises this spring.

24 sophomores and juniors held the first of three full-day trainings last week for the new Changemakers for Good program. Changemakers for Good ™️ LLC works in partnership with school districts to build systems that foster and sustain a culture of belonging. The approach engages stakeholders — school committees, administrators, teachers, students and their families —to learn from each other; reimagine education as a shared commitment to ensure everyone is represented, respected and valued; and develop a course of action that they can take as changemakers to facilitate welcoming and caring learning communities where students experience a sense of belonging, aspire to achieve their academic potential and thrive socially and emotionally. The trainings will continue this Tuesday, and will conclude next Tuesday after which the students will meet with faculty advisor Amy Verdi to discuss next steps at increasing everyone's sense of belonging at LMHS.
