Good afternoon, and happy holiday weekend, Thompson families!

I hope your summer is filled with opportunities to relax, recharge, and spend time doing the things that bring you happiness. While students and staff are enjoying a well-deserved break, our custodial and maintenance teams have been hard at work preparing the building for another great school year. The cleaning, organizing, and summer projects are moving along very well as we begin looking ahead to the 2026-27 school year.

Summer is a wonderful time to decompress and get away (I'm currently enjoying some family time in the Carolinas), and it offers a valuable opportunity for students to recharge, build healthy habits, and make the most of their time before the next school year begins. One of the best things our middle school students can do this summer is spend time outdoors, stay active, and connect with friends and family.

Research continues to show that simply spending time outdoors can have meaningful benefits for young adolescents. Studies have found that regular exposure to natural environments is associated with improved mood, reduced stress, stronger cognitive functioning, and better overall mental health. Importantly, these benefits are not limited to sports or vigorous exercise. Whether it's riding a bike, walking the dog, gardening, playing with friends, or even reading a book under a tree, spending time outside and away from screens can help support both emotional well-being and healthy development.

Equally important is maintaining social connections. Middle school is a critical time for developing friendships, a sense of belonging, and social-emotional skills. Positive peer interactions help students build confidence, strengthen communication skills, and support healthy emotional development.

Summer provides a valuable opportunity for students to build memories, strengthen relationships, and engage in activities that bring them joy. Whether through organized programs, family adventures, neighborhood gatherings, or simply spending time with friends, these experiences often provide a welcome break from screens and help students return to school feeling refreshed, connected, and ready for the year ahead.

I'll send another Summer Update later in July and one more in August before our weekly Friday Forecasts return for the school year.

As always, please reach out if you have any questions.

Enjoy your holiday weekend, Happy 4th of July, and Roll Thunder!

D303 Moving to a new Student Information System D303 Moving to a new Student Information System

Dear D303 Families,

We are excited to share that beginning with the 2026-2027 school year, D303 will be moving to a new Student Information System called Synergy.

For families and students, this means two new online portals for you to access important information: ParentVUE and StudentVUE. These will replace Home Access Center (HAC) as the way you stay connected with your student's gradebook, attendance, report cards, and so much more.

This transition is a step forward for our district, and our staff have been hard at work preparing for it. Behind the scenes, teams have been setting up the new system, transferring student data from our current system to Synergy, and training D303 employees so we are ready to support staff, students, and families.

What you need to know right now:

  • Home Access Center (HAC) is now closed

In July and August, we will share more information about:

  • Creating your ParentVUE accounts

  • Logging in and accessing the new portals

  • A navigation overview to help you find what you need in the new portal

Thank you for your patience and partnership as we prepare for this exciting change. We look forward to introducing you to ParentVUE and StudentVUE later this summer!

Sincerely,

D303 Communications

Help Us Collect ONE MILLION Pop Tabs!

We’re on a mission to collect one million pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House Charities, and we can’t do it without YOU (and your grandparents, cousins, neighbors, and carpool crew)!

Those tiny aluminum tabs from soda cans, soup lids, or sparkling water may seem small—but when we collect them together, they add up to real support for families with seriously ill children.

Here’s how to pitch in:

  • Save your pop tabs at home—and ask your grandparents, cousins, friends, and neighbors to do the same!

  • Bring them to school all year long.

  • Every tab brings us closer to our 1,000,000-tab goal!

Let's pull together and make a difference!
