Lesson 2 - Cells as a System: Cell Structures and Functions
Biology: Domain Structures and Content Weights
Achievement Level Descriptors: Cells as a System
Georgia Standards of Excellence (SB1a)
Construct an explanation of how cell structures and organelles (including nucleus, cytoplasm, cell membrane, cell wall, chloroplasts, lysosome, Golgi, endoplasmic reticulum, vacuoles, ribosomes, and mitochondria) interact as a system to maintain homeostasis.
Cell Structures
Cells are the structural, functional, and biological units of all living beings. A cell can replicate itself independently. Hence, they are known as the building blocks of life. Cells are comprised of several cell organelles that perform specialized functions to carry out life processes. Every organelle has a specific structure and function.
