Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 17th October 2025
Lindisfarne Part 2!
We are a little envious to report that after the first amazing two days of the Year 5 visit to Lindisfarne which we wrote about in last week's update, on the final day they visited Alnwick Castle and saw dolphins on their boat trip to the Farne Islands. Wow!
Staff say that the children were fantastic during the whole trip. A good time was definitely had by all! Thank you to the staff who spent time away from their families to make sure this fabulous residential could go ahead again this year.
KS2 Football Tournament
All teams showed great spirit and determination in our KS2 football tournament on Thursday afternoon. As you can see, they both played and supported enthusiastically! Thank you to the organising members of staff and congratulations to the tournament winners, Sharks!
Harvest Thanks
Once again, we thank all our families for their generosity during Harvest. Today, members of the School Council transported the donations to the Community House, who were extremely grateful to receive them. Staff at the Community House told the children about what will happen next with their donations and who they will go to help. Pupils also got a chance to see the recently refurbished garden at the Community House and to hear about the different groups that have contributed to it.
People Who Help Us
Choir Success
In June, the choir enjoyed taking part in a charity concert at Harrogate Royal Hall. We can now confirm that the event raised a phenomenal £9228 to be shared between Growing Healthy and the Sir Robert Ogden Macmillan Centre! Thank you to all who took part in the concert, and those who came along to support the children.
Our Weekly Stars
Congratulations to our Stars of the Week celebrated in today's worship:
Nursery - Logan for being an independent learner, and for always being willing to have a go at new things.
Reception - Theo for being an excellent role model for his friends. He is showing fantastic listening during our carpet sessions and is beginning to share his wonderful ideas.
Year 1 - Rupert for settling in so brilliantly this week. It's as if he's always been part of our class! Rupert has made a super start by building new friendships, joining in with class discussions and showing our '3Bs'.
Year 2 - Ethan for taking more responsibility for his learning, especially in maths, participating more and giving everything a go independently before asking for help.
Year 3 - Ivy for being a lovely member of the class whom we will miss very much. We hope she does amazingly well at her new school.
Year 4 - Rafi for building independence and resilience in his maths work.
The whole of Year 5! They had such an amazing time in Lindisfarne and all engaged with such curiosity, asking questions and listening so well.
Year 5 - Phoebe for a beautiful Grace Darling diary entry. We could really see the thought and effort she put in.
Year 6 - Ivy-Rose for playing an active role in lessons and for challenging herself in maths.

Parenting Support: You're Not Alone
We know that parenting can be incredibly rewarding, but also challenging at times. Whether you're navigating difficult behaviour, emotional ups and downs, or just feeling overwhelmed, it’s important to remember you’re not alone. There are resources available to support you through the tough moments. YoungMinds (www.youngminds.org.uk) offers expert advice and practical tips for supporting your child’s mental health, while Togetherness (the new name for the Solihull Parenting Approach (www.togetherness.co.uk) provides helpful articles, tools, and a community for parents to connect and share. Reaching out for support is a sign of strength—not weakness.
