Parents-Please Respond ❗❗ Parents-Please Respond ❗❗

In order to ensure that we have the right support in place for our students next year in terms of having enough teachers (smaller classroom sizes), classroom supplies, and staff support, we are hoping to get an accurate count of students who will be in attendance. Thank you so much for responding by the end of this week, March 6th.

Please click on the green link below to let us know about your plans for the 26-27 school year.

iReady Testing iReady Testing

Students will be taking the last round of iReady diagnostic testing for this school year on the following days: Monday March 9th, Tuesday March 10th, Monday March 16th, and Tuesday March 17th. The class schedule for these days are linked below. Other days during these weeks will be used to finish testing or complete make-up testing.

Some testing reminders:

  • Students should charge and bring computers to school daily.
  • For the testing days listed above, students will report to their advisory class first.
  • Please minimize dropping off students late or picking up students early so as not to disrupt a testing room or to distract students from their progress.
  • Encourage your child(ren) to take their time and try their best so we can get a good sense on how much they've learned this year and make adjustments as needed as we start the last quarter of this school year.
  • We will offer a celebration for students who make growth on their iReady from the last testing period to this one. πŸ…

Personal Electronic Device Policy Personal Electronic Device Policy

Many students may have received new devices during the holidays. Please see the following Aiken County Public Schools policy regarding personal electronic devices:

Pursuant to ACPSD Board Policy JICJ, students are prohibited from utilizing personal electronic devices or accessories during the instructional school day.

For this policy, personal electronic device means any device utilized to access the internet, wi-fi, cellular telephone signals, or to capture images or video. This includes, but is not limited to cell phones, smart watches, tablets, and gaming devices.

This also includes the use of accessories. Personal electronic device accessories include any wired or wireless accessory or wearable technology that connects to a device and any other accessory commonly used in conjunction with a personal electronic device.

Although middle and high school students may possess a personal electronic device, the device should not be activated or utilized for any function unless specifically authorized as part of an instructional directive by a teacher or other classroom supervisor. Unless school-specific exceptions apply, the above specified devices should be turned off and placed out of sight and not in use during instructional day. This rule applies during established school day hours and at off-campus activities during the school day. (Principals may further restrict use before and after school as necessary.)

For each violation the student will be informed that he or she is in violation of the Electronic Device Policy, and the student will be asked to turn the device off and put it away. A referral for Cell Phone Violation (Code 330) will be entered.

Important Information About School-Issued Computers πŸ’» Important Information About School-Issued Computers πŸ’»

Help us teach your children/our students about the importance of internet safety. We have had a recent increase in students viewing inappropriate material or emailing peers about inappropriate topics on their school laptops both at school and in their homes before or after school hours. While the district does have filters on the searches, no filter can catch everything. Middle schoolers are very clever and figure out ways around the safety features. We highly encourage you to speak to your children about internet safety and further encourage you to monitor your child's computer use while at home.

Students who engage in inappropriate searches on their school-issued laptop during or outside of school hours may be subject to disciplinary actions including having their laptops revoked.
