Dear Parents and Families,

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year at CBSS! We are excited to welcome our students and families back for another year of learning, growth, and connection.

This year brings an especially exciting milestone for our school community as our two-year construction project comes to a close. After navigating changing spaces, moving classrooms mid-year, construction noise, and unexpected alarms, we are thrilled to see the vision for our school become a reality. A majority of the work completed this summer occurred in the secondary school and we are excited for our students to learn and collaborate in these new and improved spaces.

As we begin the year, our staff is eager to build on the strong sense of community that makes CBSS such a special place. We look forward to challenging our students, celebrating their successes, and creating meaningful experiences both inside and outside the classroom. Thank you to our families for your continued partnership and support.

Orientation for incoming 9th graders and parents/guardians will be held on Thursday, August 20th at 7:00pm at CBCS.

Bus schedules and routes will remain unchanged from last year. Bus service is available to CB South, Buckhorn, Skyland and Riverbend both before school and after school. Two buses will run in the morning and one in the afternoon.

Please note, all families must complete the bus rider agreement form in PowerSchool regardless of whether or not your student will be using the school bus before or after school. Bus transportation may be used throughout the school year for field trip transportation. If you do not know the name of your student's bus route please choose "other" on the bus rider agreement.

If your child needs medication administered during the school day. Please bring the completed form with physician signature and prescription medication in the appropriately labeled container to the school.

Your PowerSchool forms must be complete for your child to receive over the counter medication as needed in the health rooms. The emergency contact form in PowerSchool will allow us to contact someone else in the best interest of your child should you be unavailable.

CBCS uses MyPaymentsPlus to accept payments for any applicable school fees (athletics, extra items at lunch, the technology fee, after school programming, etc.)

To help reduce waste and save time and money, we are continuing our school supply program for the upcoming school year. The school supply fee this year will be $40 per student. You can pay this on MyPaymentsPlus.

• For middle school students: Your fee covers a complete, individualized supply pack (including a planner, binder, and a color-coded folder for every subject), plus a fully stocked classroom of shared essentials.

• For high school students: Your fee goes toward general classroom materials, specialized project supplies, and shared resources used throughout the year.

If you have any questions about fees or need assistance, please contact the front office.

For the 2026-2027 school year, the Gunnison Watershed School District will provide FREE breakfast and lunch for all students. No application is required this school year to receive free complete meals. Please note, any individual items and/or second meals will be charged, so please prefund your mypaymentsplus account if your student is likely to purchase additional items.

Each CBCS student will have a Chromebook and charger. Please click HERE for more information on technology offerings and the $30 annual tech fee due Friday, October 9th. The tech fee is applicable to all students and can be paid through MyPaymentsPlus. The tech fee helps to cover accidental damage. Fees are waived for those eligible through the free and reduced application.
