Kindergarten: Hi Kindergarten Family, Thank you to all the parents that were able to attend our Curriculum Night. We will share some of this information at Parent/Teacher Conferences. Next week we will be focusing on Feeling and Emotions; our letter will be Jj-Letterland character- Jumping Jim; sight words- where, want; -ut word family ( but, cut, gut, hut, jut, nut, rut, shut, strut); number-20 twenty and subtraction. Please remind that Parent/Teacher Conferences will be March 9-10-Thursday 4pm-7pm and Friday 8am-12pm. There will be a note from your child’s teacher to confirm the time you chose. Please continue to read with your child and go over sight words nightly. Thank you for all you do for our students at WPS.

First Grade: Hello from First Grade! Thank you to the parents who attended our Curriculum Night this week. We hope you gained valuable information to help your child continue to succeed. If you have not signed up for a conference time with your child’s teacher, please do so as soon as possible. Next week, our fiction story will be Library Lion. We will be focusing on feelings and moods.

Second Grade:

Greetings from Second Grade! Thank you to those parents who attended our WPS Parent Night. We hope that the information shared will be beneficial in the weeks to come. If you haven’t completed the Parent/Teacher Conference Sign-up sheet and returned it, please do so as soon as possible. This will help with scheduling conferences. Next week we will begin to talk about how information gained from illustrations helps us understand the characters, setting, and plot of a story. We will also introduce measurement and the instruments we use to measure objects. Lastly, we will begin to learn about animal life cycles. Please continue to read AR books, complete the weekly homework packet, study spelling words, and practice basic math facts with sums to 20.

Resource:

Music: Creative movement, ballads, songs of spring, and plenty of instrument playing while reading rhythms are in store for March! Reading melody will also be part of our next lessons.

Student Services

As the weather changes please make we want to make sure that all of our Tiger Scholars are dressed and ready. Please take a moment and look at the illustration below.

School Nurse:

Is it Allergies or a Cold?

1. If fever is present, it is likely to be a cold or viral infection of some kind, NOT an allergy.

2. Fatigue and exhaustion usually indicate a cold or viral illness.

3. Itchy, watery eyes indicate allergies, NOT a cold.

4. Clear, THIN nasal drainage along with itchy, watery eyes suggest allergies, while THICK nasal drainage indicates a cold or infection.

5. A common cold rarely has symptoms lasting over a week, while allergy symptoms will last longer (as long as allergens like pollen are present).

There’s no cure for the common cold. Typical treatments include rest, fluids, and over-the-counter medications. Nasal rinses can bring relief for both colds and allergies as well.
