Reminder: School Costume Guidelines
As dress-up events approach, please review our quick guidelines to ensure a fun and inclusive environment for everyone:
No Weapons: Real or replica weapons of any kind are strictly prohibited on school grounds.
Keep it Respectful: Costumes must avoid cultural appropriation, sacred attire, or harmful stereotypes. Let’s make sure outfits celebrate creativity without mocking any culture or identity.
Safety First: Costumes must comply with our standard dress code, allow for easy movement, and ensure clear visibility.
Thank you for helping us keep our school safe, fun, and welcoming for all!
The Bake Sale is Back!
Grade 9 students going to Quebec will be hosting a bake sale. On Tuesday November 3rd and Wednesday November 4th, come on down to the Hawk’s Nest at lunch to get so some sweet treats. Don’t forget to bring your change! The bake sale will also run during parent teacher interviews – grab some snacks to go and support a great cause. We are able to accept cash only.

Inclement Weather
With the winter season almost here, the school has a few reminders for families:
- Ensure students have clothing appropriate for expected weather conditions.
- If weather conditions are bad enough to impact student transportation, Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) advises families directly, and posts updates on social media and eips.ca.
- Decisions regarding bus cancellations are guided by an EIPS administrative procedure that states, “school bus service may be suspended…when there is a forecast or current temperature of -40 C, including wind chill factor, in one or more regions.” Other reasons for suspending or delaying school bus services include adverse weather and poor road conditions.
- When school bus services are suspended, schools remain open to students.
For more information, contact EIPS Student Transportation at 780-417-8151.

Take Our Kids to Work Day - Grade 9
With the theme “Different Perspective, Shared Direction,” Take Our Kids to Work Day 2026 recognizes the importance of expanding horizons and embracing diverse career paths. Take our Kids to Work Day provides Grade 9 students with an opportunity to be exposed to the world of work, an important aspect of career planning.
Students will participate by job shadowing someone at work for the day, or participating in activities planned at the school. Families are responsible for connecting their student with a job shadow opportunity; often this is with a family member or family friend.
Grade 9 families were sent an email last week with details on how to participate. Once you have made arrangements for a job shadow opportunity, please ensure that you complete the Permission Click form.
