May/June Newsletter 2024
Amy Belle Elementary
Principal's Corner-Mrs. Kohel
Dear Amy Belle Families,
Since this is my last Amy Belle newsletter as your principal, I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you. I have truly enjoyed being able to work with you and your children. My time at Amy Belle has been a wonderful experience and that is because of the positive environment that has been created by our families and staff. Looking back, there have been many challenges, changes and successes over the course of my time here. We added new spaces and received a beautiful remodel in 2019 through the Referendum. Along with this, our PTA helped us put in a new playset for the students to enjoy. We can't forget the challenges of 2020 and the school shut down, virtual learning and returning to the school structure we know today. It has been a privilege to be the Amy Belle Principal through it all! Being able to form relationships with students and watch them learn and grow has been a highlight of my career. Amy Belle is truly a special place! The staff, students and families make it an amazing learning community. I am thankful to be able to continue in the school district and be a part of Amy Belle in a new capacity. So, thank you Amy Belle Families for allowing me to be a part of your children's education for the last eight years. I will truly miss it!
Sincerely,
Katie Kohel
Counselor Corner
All classes have had recent Guidance Lessons about Personal Safety. Students learned to recognize unsafe situations, refuse to participate in dangerous activities, and report to trusted adults. We discussed the importance of the "Always Ask First" rule (getting permission from the adult in charge before you go anywhere with anyone). As we have more outdoor activities, now is a great time to review your family rules about staying safe and what to do if they ever feel in danger. Stop. Get away. Tell an adult.
After School and Summer Activities/Programs
Outside groups/activities are being offered for students to have the opportunity to join an after school program and summer activities. Please see the following information from the Germantown Recreation Department(link)
