Connection, Community & Remembering Connection, Community & Remembering

As we wrap up our second week of school, you can feel everyone beginning to settle into the rhythm of a new year. I have enjoyed meeting so many of you at events over the past few weeks, and I hope you will continue to say hello if you see me out and about. Fall sports are in full swing, high school students are signing up for clubs and activities, and our buildings are full of the energy that makes this time of year so exciting. I hope you will come out to cheer on our teams, enjoy a performance by our band, and support our students in all the ways they are showing up and getting involved this fall.

Yesterday also marked 25 years since the September 11, 2001 attacks. For our students, this history can feel distant since they were not yet born. That is exactly why it matters that we teach it well and take time to remember. Throughout our schools, students had age-appropriate opportunities to learn about and reflect on that day and the stories of courage, sacrifice, and compassion that emerged from it.

September 11 brought profound loss to our country, but it also revealed extraordinary acts of heroism and a remarkable sense of unity. Twenty-five years later, it is important that we continue to share those stories and help our students understand not only what happened, but what we can learn from how people responded.

As we move forward into another school year, remembering moments like this reminds us of the importance of connection, compassion, and looking out for one another. It is also a reminder of the value of service, both to our community and to something larger than ourselves, and I hope we can carry that spirit with us throughout the year ahead.

Proud to be QCSD,

Dr. Lisa Hoffman
Superintendent of Schools

Quakertown Panther Marching Band Performs at Patriots Day Ceremony Quakertown Panther Marching Band Performs at Patriots Day Ceremony

On a day dedicated to remembrance and honoring the courage of those who answered the call, the Quakertown Panther Marching Band had the distinct honor of performing at the American Legion Post 242 Patriots Day Ceremony on Friday, September 11th, at the Univest Performance Center.

For members of the QCSD Community, this was more than a performance. We are honored that our students had the opportunity to perform and stand alongside local veterans, first responders, and fellow citizens as we pause to remember those lives changed forever by the events of this day, 25 years ago.

The morning's program featured a timeline of the events of September 11th, followed by the tolling of a bell, an escort and processional of the 9/11 memorial, and displays of military vehicles, police, fire, and emergency service equipment.

Thank you to American Legion Post 242 for inviting the Quakertown Panther Marching Band to be a part of this extraordinary day and for continuing to provide opportunities for our community to come together in remembrance.

And to our Panther Musicians - thank you for your outstanding performance and the pride you showed as you represented the Quakertown Community School District. Your music helped to create a meaningful moment for our community, and we could not be more proud.

Finding Your Panther Path at the QCHS Clubs & Activities Fair Finding Your Panther Path at the QCHS Clubs & Activities Fair

This past Friday, the gymnasium of Quakertown Community High School came to life with excitement and Panther Pride, as students took time to find their path at the 6th Annual Panther Club & Activities Fair.

With more than 45 clubs and over 80 sports opportunities to choose from, students had countless ways to discover meaningful connections, discover new interests, and find their place among their peers. From creativity and service to competition and leadership, there was truly something for everyone.

Thank you to our club and sports captains, teachers, coaches and staff who shared their time and passion with our students. Your commitment is what makes our QCHS school community so special.

Here's to a year filled with new adventures, connections, and plenty of Panther Pride!

September is Suicide Prevention Month September is Suicide Prevention Month

Suicide is the second leading cause of death among people ages 10-24 in the US. In junior high and high school, children and teenagers are particularly susceptible to dealing with suicidal thoughts. Because of this, it is important that parents can recognize the signs of suicidal thoughts and know what to do if they do see them in their children. The more we can talk about suicide, the more children will know they are not alone in their struggles.

The Quakertown Community School District is proud to partner with the Cook Center for Human Connection and ParentGuidance.org to provide families with FREE monthly parenting and mental health resources, including a FREE Virtual "Ask a Therapist" session monthly, and monthly newsletters and online webinars to review.

We encourage you to take time to review these resources and take advantage of this great partnership. Click the links below to learn:
