KMSNEWSLETTER

Dear KMS Families,

We’re heading into the final week of state testing at Kodiak Middle School. AK STAR Math (Grades 6–8) will take place on Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16, 2025. KMS will follow an adjusted bell schedule this week. If your student attends part-time, please check the attachment below.

To help students do their best, please make sure they:

  • Get a good night’s sleep

  • Eat breakfast (available at school starting at 8:00 a.m.)

  • Arrive on time with a fully charged iPad

Don't forget that we are holding a Testing Raffle for some awesome prizes! We’ll hold a live prize drawing on Friday—details coming soon! All students can earn entries by:

  • Arriving on time

  • Bringing a charged iPad

  • Giving their best effort (using scratch paper, pacing themselves, etc.)

And finally, please remind your student that although this testing is important, it isn’t the end of the year. We still have seven weeks of school, and regular attendance, good behavior, and academic grades continue to matter.

Thank you for supporting your student’s success!

HELP STOCK OUR NEW KMS FOOD PANTRY

We’re excited to share that our school has started a food pantry to support students and families in need — and we could use your help!

We’re currently collecting non-perishable items such as:

  • Rice, ramen, soups, mac & cheese
  • Canned goods (Spam, tuna, chicken)
  • Oatmeal, cereal, shelf-stable milk
  • Pasta and pasta sauce
  • Peanut butter, jelly
  • Bread, crackers, and instant mashed potatoes

If you'd like to donate fresh items like fruit, vegetables, or eggs, we kindly ask that those be dropped off on Fridays before noon so we can store them properly.

Thank you for supporting our school community!
