đź“’ NYC School Survey
Every year, we ask families, teachers, and staff of grades 3-K through 12, and students in grades 6–12 to take the NYC School Survey. The survey gives school leaders a better understanding of what members of their school community think about their school. The information collected by the survey is designed to support a dialogue among all members of the school community about how to make the school a better place to learn.
Step 1: Get What You Need to Start
If your child attends an NYCPS, you will need your child's nine-digit student identification number (OSIS) to begin the survey online. You can find the OSIS number on your child's report card or student ID. If you cannot locate it, contact me via email Pcraig2@schools.nyc.gov
Step 2: Enter Your Access Code
- NYCPS and Charter School Families
Enter a lowercase “f” followed by your child’s nine-digit OSIS number (example: f123456789).
Step 3: Complete the Survey!

Dear Families and Colleagues,
Last week, we announced the launch of this year’s application for Summer Rising, New York City’s free summer learning and enrichment program for students in grades K–8. What began five years ago as an ambitious effort to keep young New Yorkers engaged during the summer months has since become a cornerstone for City families. Thanks to Summer Rising, our students can look forward to summers full of fun activities, new friendships, incredible field trips, and yes—plenty of learning.
If you have a child currently in kindergarten through eighth grade, I encourage you to log into your MySchools account and start your Summer Rising 2026 application. There, you can learn about nearby options, and submit your application through Friday, March 27. Visit our Summer Rising webpage to learn more about this year’s offerings, including key dates and program schedules.
Since its inception, Summer Rising has offered support, growth, and new experiences for our students. I am grateful to the Department of Youth & Community Development (DYCD) for their continued collaboration over the last few years. Together, we’re helping to spark our children’s curiosity, joy, and love of learning through the summer and beyond!
In partnership,
Kamar H. Samuels
Chancellor
