National School Lunch Hero Day!
🏫1 high school. 🥪 600 meals. ⏰ 30 minutes. 👩🏻🍳 Every. Single. Day.
On National Lunch Hero Day, we want to shine a spotlight on the WHS Nutrition Services team — some of the hardest-working people in our district.
Every school day, this incredible team feeds over 600 Wenatchee High School students in just 30 minutes, working out of a kitchen originally built in the 1970s and running food service carts to every corner of the building to make sure every student is fed. The logistics alone are remarkable. The fact that they do it with warmth, hustle, and a smile every single day? That’s heroic.
Thank you, WHS Nutrition Services team, and thank you to all our Nutrition Services staff. You are seen. You are valued.

Culture & Climate Survey
It's time for Wenatchee School District's annual culture and climate survey. Each year, we give this survey to our students, staff, and families to ensure that the District is a thriving environment where individuals are seen, valued, feel safe, and know they belong.
We are committed to continuing to provide quality education and social-emotional learning for the students of our great community. The goal of the survey is to hear from the families in our school community and find out where there are positive environments, gaps in our system, and areas for improvement.
Thank you in advance for taking the survey to help us collect your important feedback. The survey closes on May 8th.

First Graders Discover Animals, Plants, and Insects of the Shrub Steppe Ecosystem
Hundreds of Wenatchee first graders embarked on an exciting adventure last week as they took part in the annual First Grade Hill Hike Field Experience organized by the WSD Science Resource Center. Eager young students traversed up the Jacobsen Preserve Trail, discovering the various animals, plants, and insects of the Shrub Steppe Ecosystem along the way.
The hillside was blanketed in native wildflowers, providing the perfect backdrop for a scavenger hunt where students identified plants and insects as they hiked up the trail. At the top of the trail, friendly and knowledgeable volunteers facilitated field stations where students could get hands-on with animal pelts and antlers, paint an Arrowleaf Balsamroot watercolor, and search for tiny insects with magnifying glasses among the wildflowers and sage.
This science field experience brought classroom science lessons to life, giving curious young learners the opportunity to discover more about nature and the world around them. The First Grade Hill Hike Field Experience is one of a series of science field experiences for grades K-8 that provide an interactive and memorable learning experience. WSD is proud to organize this event and looks forward to continuing to inspire young scientists in the community.

Wenatchee School District Seeking Pro and Con Committee Members for November 3, 2026 Election
Volunteer committee members are needed to develop pro and con statements for the Wenatchee School District’s proposed capital bond on the November 3, 2026 ballot. The statements will be published in the local voters’ pamphlet, which is mailed to voters in advance of the election. State law requires that volunteers reside within the District.
The School Board will appoint up to three members to serve on each of the Pro Committee and Con Committee. The Pro Committee will write a statement supporting the measure, and the Con Committee will write a statement opposing the measure. Each committee will also have the opportunity to write a rebuttal to the opposing statement.
The proposed capital bond would fund construction of a new Wenatchee High School and make safety, health, and building system improvements across schools in the district, including updates to heating, ventilation, and air quality systems.
