Week 3: August 24th-28th
We’ve had such a great start to the school year, and it’s hard to believe we are already wrapping up our first Progress Report (PR1) this week! We have a busy week ahead, so here are a few things to have on your radar.
PR1 ends Friday, August 28. We encourage students and parents to check grades together, review assignments, and celebrate the progress they’re making. Take a look in Skyward for any missing assignments or classes where your child may benefit from a little extra support. Our morning tutorials are a great resource, and staying on top of things now will help set students up for success all year long.
Fall Open House is this Thursday, August 27, at 6:00pm! We can’t wait to welcome you to campus! Please make sure you have your child’s schedule and room numbers ready when you arrive. Parents will have the opportunity to rotate through all 8 classes and meet their teachers while learning more about what’s ahead this year. We hope to see lots of our Jag parents on Thursday!
A quick reminder about ID badges: Most students have already received their school-issued ID badge, and our remaining students who are new to SMS will receive theirs this week. Students must have their school-issued ID badge to ride the bus in the morning and afternoon, so please help your child make it part of their everyday routine.
Clubs are getting started! Students must have parent/guardian consent on file before attending club meetings or activities. Please review the club permission form below and give consent for the clubs you are comfortable with your child participating in. Just remember, consent does not guarantee a spot in a club—it simply gives permission for your child to participate if they are selected.
Don’t forget about free and reduced-price meals! We encourage all families to complete the Free and Reduced-Price Meal application. Even if you aren’t sure whether your family qualifies, submitting an application can provide important benefits for your child and additional resources for our school.
And finally, we’d love to have you join our PTO family! Our PTO does so much to support our students and staff, and there are lots of ways to get involved. If you’re interested in volunteering, check out the opportunities here: SMS PTO Volunteer Opportunities
Thanks for being part of our Jaguar family! We’re off to a great start, and we’re excited for all that’s ahead. Let’s have a great week, Jags!

Jaguar Community: We Need Your Voice!
We are in the process of making sure our school’s brand reflects who we are, what we value, and what makes our school special. We are working to develop a new logo for our school as we solidify our identity within the community, and your voice matters! Please take a few minutes to answer the questions in the survey honestly and thoughtfully as this is what we will use to help shape the future of SMS. There are no right or wrong answers—we want to know what you think! We would love to hear from students, staff, parents, and our community and we can’t wait to share what we learn!
