Welcome to the BHS Express
A newsletter keeping you informed about Batavia High School
Hello Bulldog Families.
BHS wrapped up the week on our Flex Schedules to make certain we allow enough time for our students to take the Restart/Readiness Assessments. These “practice” assessments help our teachers take a quick look at where all of their students are in their learning progression in order to better prepare them for the high school End of Course tests that are taken in the spring. As a reminder, in high school, students must do well on these tests as they hold weight towards earning a high school diploma. We are so fortunate at Batavia High School because our teachers work tirelessly with our students to make sure everyone is given the best possible opportunity when they enter the testing window in the spring.
Time and time again, I find myself proud to see what some of our Batavia High School students are doing. Make sure you check out our September Rotary Student of the Month, Megan Ranly, and take a look at some of the pictures of our students/staff doing fantastic things for kids!
Our Athletic Director, Mark Pierson, has been receiving some compliments from some of our opponents this past week! Special shout out BHS Student Athletes Maddy Sullivan, Lily Dacey, Xavier Diesel-Slone, and Gavin West! We’ve been hearing about how well these young people are representing Batavia High School and leading in positive ways. People notice and families, thank you for allowing us to work with such fine young student athletes every day!
We have a lot of important links/dates in this edition. Make sure that you check out school picture dates and if you have a senior, pay particular attention to the Graduate Services Document that is linked below. It contains information about ordering caps/gowns and all of those other “senior” items you may want to view.
We hope everyone has a fantastic Labor Day weekend. We look forward to welcoming students back on Tuesday, September 8th.
In service to our Bulldogs.

#EveryBulldogEveryDay
Hi, Bulldog Families.
We are off to a great start with our overall attendance rate. Please make sure to report a student's absence if they are not attending school that day. If we have no contact from a guardian and don’t know why they are not in attendance this may require a safety and wellness check. The Batavia police department and the school work together to do home visits weekly.
Go Bulldogs!

Hello, Families.
I hope everyone has a great three day Labor Day weekend.
Just a couple short things to share with your student drivers.
Please make sure the phones are down while driving.
Obey all traffic stop signs on campus at all times.
Drive safely and be aware of other drivers, crossing guards, and SRO”s.
Students exiting the back parking lot, please use caution when merging into the main stream of traffic as you enter the road by the middle school.
Lastly, as we enter our 4th week of school, students need to be in their first period by 7:25am. Students with late arrival or early departure must sign in and out each day.
Thank you,
Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students
