LAHSNews Feed 8/8/21
What a great week back! It has been so nice to see faces again! We hope everyone had a decent first week back. It was exhausting but now that a routine is back, it will get better.

Just a few things...

  • Parking passes. $10 see Ms. Brittany Doiron in the front office.
  • Google Classroom Codes have been posted to the "Class Of...." classrooms. Although, click here for a quick reference.
  • Schedule changes. I have a few that still need to be done. The form has been closed. Students, please check your email for correspondence from me.
  • VERY important that all students can login to their STUDENT PORTAL!
  • School ID's did not get completed last week. We will do this very soon through advocacies.

Last year we pushed students to advocate for themselves. I want to reiterate this as we start another school year of unknowns. This is your education. The effort you put into your classes, school work, activities, clubs is all up to you. If you really put in the work and effort, your year and education will be amazing. We can not help you if you do not ask for help. If at any point, technology issues arise or something isn't working, etc...PLEASE ask faculty or staff. We all are here to help you.

There are back to school stresses for all of us. Be mindful on how and what you are feeling. Getting overwhelmed? Take a few minutes to take a few deep breaths, write down (or mentally) what is bothering you and think of short goal on how you might be able to change that, re-focus your mind and try again. Everyone has ups and downs, no one knows what you are going through at school and/or at home so be careful of your words. Words do hurt. Find that one adult or friend that you can talk to. We are all in this together.

Have a GREAT week next week!

Mrs. Harp

Students

We highly encourage you to check your school email EVERY DAY!!

Teachers, Staff and Admin, Club Sponsors... all send e-mails for one reason or another. A lot of questions can be answered by the e-mails that are sent out.

It is SO important that you do this daily.

Attendance Reminder

If your student will miss school for any reason, please communicate that to Ms. Brittany Doiron. She will ask for doctors notes, Covid updates, etc. Doctor notes are not excusable by the State Department of Education, but we as a district, may make an exception in some circumstances.

Attendance policy is back in place this year as to whether a student will lose credit. It is and has been a state policy that the student should be in attendance a minimum of 90% of the time. Meaning, per policy, a student shall not miss more than eight (8) days a semester. If they have nine (9) or more absences in one hour they will receive a NC, "No Credit" for that class on their transcript.

Three (3) tardies to one hour can add to one (1) absence in that hour.

Student/Parent Handbook

IMPORTANT!!

Senior Photos

This summer, Oklahoma School Pictures sent out a mailer that talked about senior photos. Your senior will have a picture with their graduation gown this fall when we have all school pictures. This is used for the yearbook and our graduation panels. You will have a chance to order these. The mailer was for if you want senior pictures done on your own and in plain clothes as well. They charge I think for this service. Some families use it and some use other photographers for senior photos they might use in a graduation announcement.
