NISD High School Magnet Experience

What is a high school magnet? What opportunities will my child have to learn about them in Northside? How and when might students and families visit a high school magnet that they are interested in attending? The information below will address these questions and direct you towards resources that the district has provided to enhance your understanding of Northside's high school magnet programs of study and the online application process.

From Wednesday, October 14th, through Friday, January 22nd, High School Magnet staff has the opportunity to visit middle schools before school or during lunchtime. They will have an information table set up and a representative ready to answer any questions that your student may have about their campus and its programs.

Beginning Wednesday, October 14th, and over the next several weeks, teachers will provide students with access to High School Magnet resources. Students will watch High School Magnet promotional videos, explore each school's website, and collect information that helps them better understand each magnet campus. Additionally, students will interact with in-class activities that emulate various strands offered at the High School Magnets.

MAPS HS, AVID 1, and Innovative Thinkers 3 teachers will guide students through the high school magnet online application process, allowing class time for students to apply to their school(s) of choice, should they choose to do so.

For students to be considered for acceptance at one of the NISD high school magnets, they must fill out the high school magnet online application. Here are some important dates in the application process.
