Dear Wales Families,

As we wrap up Staff Appreciation Week, I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our wonderful PTO and parent community. We were truly spoiled by your kind messages and the abundance of treats that filled our breakroom all week. We are so grateful for this unwavering community support; your active involvement doesn't just brighten our days—it creates a positive, nurturing environment that directly impacts the success and happiness of our school and your children. Thank you for making us feel so valued!

To all the incredible moms in our community—from the mothers of our students to our dedicated teachers who balance the roles of educator and parent—Happy Mother’s Day! This Sunday, we celebrate the tireless love, patience, and guidance you provide every day. Your influence is the foundation upon which our students build their confidence and kindness, and we are so grateful for the heart you pour into our school family. I hope your weekend is filled with the rest and appreciation you so richly deserve.

The weather finally cooperated and we were able to complete our last fire drill! Yippi!

PTO News and Updates

***Important update from the PTO. The May meeting date has been changed to May 14th 6pm at Wales Primary School.***

The PTO plant/flower sale pickup is May 8th 3-6pm out front of the school or in the shelter by the playground (depending on the weather).

Student absences

This is a reminder that when your child is absent or tardy, legally we must have a note with a reason, upon the child's return to school. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

The Problem - Attendance Works

The most recent federal data show that in the 2020-21 school year, at least 14.7 million students nationwide were chronically absent. This means that chronic absence has almost doubled from the more than 8 million students, pre-Covid-19, who were missing so many days of school that they were academically at risk. Chronic absence — missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused, unexcused absences and suspensions—can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. Read this research summary for more details.
