Dear Montera Families,

It has been a busy and wonderful year in the Montera Library with our amazing Toro readers! Now it’s time to make sure that all the books, textbooks, and ELA novels that were checked out of the library get checked back into the library.

  • Friday, May 15 is the due date for all library books and textbooks to be returned to Montera. (Mx. Mandell-Kerr’s students have one additional week for their ELA novels which are due on Friday, May 22.)

  • Students should return library books directly to the library.

  • Textbooks can be returned to the library or collected in the appropriate classrooms.

  • Students will receive check out notices the week of May 11 reminding them which books need to be returned.

Please check in with your student/s and help them return their books to Montera in a timely manner. If a student has lost a book, they can see me in the library to discuss replacement options.

Thank you!

–Mrs. Rogers

The 8th Grade Dinner Dance on Saturday was an event to remember! The theme was “A Night on the Runway,” and our 8th graders absolutely showed up and showed out in suits, ties, gowns, and dresses. Everyone looked incredible and brought so much energy to the night!

A huge thank you to Teena Bowie and Nikki Neal for coordinating such a special event for our students, and to Mrs. Rasheed and Ms. Ligons, the most fabulous DJ, for helping make the night so memorable!

Also, a big shoutout to all the chaperones and everyone who helped set up, donated drinks, desserts, and dishes, and made the evening possible!

Attendance Reminders Attendance Reminders

California funds schools through Average Daily Attendance (ADA). This means that every day or period a student is absent or tardy, our school loses funding. Unexcused absences cost our school thousands of dollars each school year. Every minute counts!

Reminders:

  • AVOID picking up students during lunch - loud speaker announcements during lunch disrupt classes in session.

  • AVOID picking up students 20-30 minutes before the dismissal bell. This allows students to finish their school day without disruption.

    • Dismissal is at 1:50 pm on Wednesdays and 3:30 pm on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

  • Remember, school starts at 9:15! Please help your student arrive on time each day and reinforce the importance of showing up to 3rd & 7th period after lunch!

  • Any absence not verified by phone or email is marked “Unverified” and is considered unexcused.

  • If you know that your student is going to be absent, please call the main office at 510-879-3211 x1.

  • If your family is experiencing challenges with daily attendance, we are here to support you. Contact your grade-level principal or Ms. Ida at the number above for assistance.

Nurture Nature (Paid!) Workshop

If you are ages 13 - 21, join the New Voices Rising Program for their Nurture Nature Workshop on Saturday, May 16, from 10am to 1pm.
