A PRAYER FOR THE END OF THE DAY π
Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the small blessings I noticed today
and those I overlooked.
As night arrives,
slow my thoughts and soften my heart.
Help me forgive anyone who hurt me
and seek forgiveness where I caused pain.
Let tomorrow begin without bitterness,
carrying only wisdom and grace.
In Jesus' name.
AMEN.
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL π
Dear Bruin Family,
The sun shone brightly (and rather warmly) on campus during our first full week of school! As we continue laying a strong foundation and practicing routines, our students are also diving headfirst into their curriculum. New friendships are forming, familiar friendships are being rekindled, and our school community is truly beginning to settle into the rhythm of a new year.
Today, we gathered together for the Catholic Churchβs greatest prayer: the Mass. As a school family, we walked two by two to the church, where students sat with their new prayer partners to celebrate together. Their voices rang out confidently in song and prayer, and they listened attentively as Father Ron spoke about the virtue of doing the right thing and how each of us can strive to make virtuous choices every day.
Next week, our students will continue STAR testing, which provides teachers with valuable insights into studentsβ current reading and math skills after the summer break. Once testing is complete, our teachers will carefully analyze the data and use the results to guide instruction, identify areas of growth, and provide the support needed to help every student succeed.
We are also excited to invite all of our families to our Back-to-School BBQ on Friday, September 4th. This special event is a wonderful opportunity for parents, students, faculty, and staff to come together, strengthen connections, and celebrate the beginning of another school year. We encourage all families to attend, enjoy an evening of fellowship, and join our community as we kick off what promises to be a fantastic year at St. Dorothy School.
I wish all of our families a blessed and restful weekend. I look forward to seeing all of our Bruins back on campus next week!
Sincerely,
Mr. Ryan Nearhoff

CHILD SAFETY π¨
Did You Know?
August 29-30 || Back to school season is a good time to refresh children & teens on internet safety
Back-to-school season is an ideal time to refresh internet safety rules with the children and teenagers in your care. For example, it is helpful to establish clear guidelines like what types of sites they can visit, apps they can download, and when they can have access to electronics. Families can also consider βblackoutβ periods that require disconnection β possibly during dinner and leading up to bedtime. Netsmartz (missingkids.org/netsmartz) offers resources for keeping children and teens safe online, for more information please visit https://www.missingkids.org/content/dam/netsmartz/downloadable/tipsheets/Internet-Safety-at-Home-EN-ES.pdf.
Mission Statement
To educate TK-Eighth grade students in a Catholic environment in which the curriculum emphasizes spiritual, ethical, and social values of the Catholic faith to become responsible and moral citizens within the global community.
Philosophy
Supporting the belief that parents are the primary educators of their children, we as educators at St. Dorothy Catholic School, dedicate ourselves to partner with the parents in preparing children to become contributing members of the community. To achieve this, we provide holistic development in psychological, emotional, social and physical health, with an emphasis on academics, faith, and Christian service.
In collaboration with parents, we champion student achievement through the presentation, practice, and study of Catholic doctrine, a strong academic curriculum, multimedia and multi-cultural experiences, physical education, extracurricular programs, and the dedicated commitment of the teachers and staff.
