Rehearsal Schedule Change

We are moving our Friday evening rehearsal to the morning (8-11 am). Please email me at jeffrey.keyes@comalisd.org if you have any conflicts with rehearsal this week.

The Lupercal

The Wolf Band and Color Guard is performing at The Lupercal on Wednesday at 6 pm. We will be wearing our summer uniform. See below of specifics on what to wear. Call time is 5:15 pm, and pickup is 6:45 pm. All Freshmen will be released after the pep rally to participate in the Lupercal Night. We are asking that all SLT members stay until 8 pm for the organization fair.

Dietary Restrictions

Please email Beatriz Glynn at marbet119@gmail.com if you have a dietary restriction by this Friday so we can plan for our food order for the first football game.

WiddyUp fundraiser

The WiddyUp Fundrasier is going great!!! We have already hit our goal of $12,000!

All students that raise over $500 as of next Sunday will be able to throw a pie in the face of Mr. Keyes at the Hawaiian Party Sunday afternoon.

Alternates/Shadows

Students have been assigned one of the following roles in our 2023 marching production, "UP".

  • Primary spot (A) with no shadow
  • Primary spot (A) with an alternate (B shadow) they are sharing their spot with
  • Alternate or shadow (B) who is shadowing someone who has the primary spot (A)

All students (As and Bs) will play in the stands as well as march on the field at all football games and play for the dance team.

Here is the performance schedule for our students that are sharing spots. Students assigned a primary spot will perform all marching contest and alternates assist with props and other technical aspects of the show. All students are essential to putting on the production and are required to be at all rehearsals and performances. Students sharing a spot take turns performing at football games. I made one adjustment to the schedule that breaks away from taking tuns to allow alternates the opportunity to perform at a home football game on October 13th.

Like all bands, we carry alternates so we have students to fill in holes for eligibility and injuries. Every year multiple alternates or B shadows are asked to fill in primary spots (A) in our show. We also need students to assist with props and other technical aspects of the show at marching contest. Every student is vital to producing an enjoyable and successful marching show at Davenport. One final note - alternates are trained to be completely confident in their ability to perform in a varsity spot when they are ready. Many programs do not have their alternates perform the show, and I am proud that we give all students an opportunity to perform the show multiple times, including at a home football game. We teach all students with the same effort and passion. We appreciate the efforts of our students and the support of our parents more than we can adequately express.

Color Guard Capris

Color guard students, please bring in cash or a check for $55 to Davenort Band Boosters for the capris. You may also pay the $55 here using a credit card.
