"PLAY ON" FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

Our Modern Music Ensembles recently performed at the annual "Play On" festival held at Boston University, a vibrant celebration of collective music making and creativity. Their performance showcased the students' talent and dedication, a testament to Mr. Klein's outstanding leadership in organizing and rehearsing the group to excellence. In addition to performing, the students enriched their experience by attending clinics in music production and modern dance, broadening their skills and artistic perspectives. This event was a remarkable opportunity for the ensembles to grow both as musicians and creative individuals. Brava!

BAKERY TRIP

Students in the Armenian I class took their learning beyond the classroom to visit Gyumri Armenian Bakery, a short walk from Moxley, as part of their “Shopping Unit.” Despite having only recently mastered all 39 letters of the Armenian alphabet, students were able to greet and make purchases, all in Armenian! This immersive activity brought the Armenian language and culture to life, reinforcing classroom learning through real conversations and cultural connections. A highlight of the visit was tasting warm, fresh lavash—the traditional Armenian flatbread recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. YUM!! Big thank you to Ms. Sargsyan for giving our students a great authentic experience!

CLASS SCHEDULES

We know, we know - you want your class schedule for next year! Please be patient with us as there are many components that go into creating class schedules. Students will receive an email when their schedule is available on PowerSchool, typically about a week before school starts. Paper copies of students' schedules will be distributed on the first day of school.

Guidance Counselors return to WHS on August 18th. During this time, our counselors review and finalize student schedules. If you email your counselor during the summer, please do not expect a reply until August 18th.

As a reminder, requests for schedule changes can be difficult once the schedule has been built, so it is important that students review their course requests carefully now. Any schedule changes must be made prior to the first day of school OR between the 8th and 14th day of school.

WCAMP MENTORS

The Watertown College Application Mentoring Program (WCAMP) seeks adult volunteers who are interested in becoming mentors. WCAMP provides support to Watertown High School students whose families lack experience with the college application process.

Working mainly one-to-one, mentors guide students through the entire application process. Mentors should be willing to commit to 3-5 hours per month for a 15-month period. Training will be provided.

Parents and guardians who have guided their own children through the college application process make ideal mentors.

If you are interested in volunteering or would like more info, please contact lise@wcamp.org.
