From the Nurse...
Is your child too sick to go to school?
Keep your child home from school when they have a fever of 100.4 (F) or greater and for 24 hours after the fever has gone away, without taking Tylenol or Ibuprofen.
Keep your child home from school when they have diarrhea and/or vomiting and for 24 hours after these symptoms have occurred.
When your child returns to school after an illness, they should be able to participate in the total school program including outdoor recess and physical education. Your child will be excused from outside recess and physical education after an illness only with a written recommendation from your family doctor or primary health care provider.
Strep Season
Back to school often means the beginning of strep throat season. We are already seeing strep throat in the community. If your student complains of a sore throat and has a fever, but doesn't have a cough, it is a good idea to take them to a clinic to be evaluated for strep throat.
Hand, Foot, & Mouth
Check out this information from the Nurse about Hand Foot and Mouth.

Every week, a small group of students go to Houses into Homes to organize and clean, fix, and refinish furniture.
Students volunteer at the Free Lunch Program each month. This month, Tate's culinary classes made delicious cookies to pass out as part of the meals.
Spirit Week
Student Council prepared for Spirit Week by making posters for around the school.
This month, a lot of students chose to create some spooky-themed art.
Career Field Trips
A group of students went to the annual Capri Halloween Open House. While there, they practiced shaving, straightening and curling hair, doing nails, and more. Several kids got tinsel in their hair by the Capri students. It was a fun opportunity for students to learn about the different options at Capri.
Freshman students went to Cedar Rapids for a Career Inspire opportunity. While there, they rotated between tables and learned about different career opportunities.
Miscellaneous
