Hello Mission Trail community! I am so excited to be joining the Timberwolf Family this year! I have been in education for 13 years now. I have spent my career as a high school math and leadership teacher at Olathe South High School. I am a product of the Olathe Public Schools, and I am proud to still be representing this amazing district. I have a micro mini goldendoodle named Honey Bee and have a passion for all things sports. I recently gained my first nephew, Zayden, who is now my pride and joy. I cannot wait to start this journey and officially become a Timberwolf!

NEW PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY NEW PERSONAL ELECTRONIC DEVICE POLICY

In compliance with Kansas law, HB 2299, students are encouraged to leave their personal electronic communication devices at home, but those who bring personal devices including cell phones, smart watches, wireless headphones or earbuds, smart glasses, tablets not issued by the school, and similar devices, must keep them turned off and securely stored in their locker or the school-designated storage location in the office throughout the school day. If a student chooses to use the school provided storage locker in the office, they must drop their device off before school. Devices should not be carried on a student's person or be readily accessible during the school day.

Students at Mission Trail have all been assigned a hallway locker to serve as an option to store personal electronic communication devices from 8:20am to 3:20pm. Student hallway locker information can be found on the Student Info tab on ParentVUE/StudentVUE. Students will still be able to utilize backpacks as they travel from class to class and use of hallway lockers is not required.

Progressive consequences will be assigned for students who are in possession of personal electronic devices on school grounds between 8:20am to 3:20pm. Click the button below for a letter from the ten middle school principals. Thank you for your continued support!

Are you melting into a puddle outside? Start thinking about joining the cast and crew of Frozen Jr.! Audition packets and sheet music will be outside Mrs. Hill's door (1521) starting the first full week of school. They will be due at 3:30 on September 8th. Any packets turned in after that time will not be accepted. Look on the Mission Trail Theatre Website for the audition dance, and music for the singing auditions! You must be at both the singing auditions AND the dance auditions to be considered for the cast. If you want to be a part of the crew, all we need is your packet!

Singing auditions will be in Mrs. Murray Posey's room at 3:30 on September 8. Students will meet in the auditorium and will be expected to be quiet and working on homework or memorization while waiting to audition. This will go until all students have performed. Please talk to Mrs. Hill or Mrs. Murray Posey if your child has a conflict with auditions. We are very flexible!

Dancing auditions will be held in the auditorium at 3:30 on September 9. It will go until all students have performed.

Thursday, September 10 will be callbacks. Callbacks are invitation only; the invitations will be posted on the Theatre Website.

Cast and Crew lists will be posted at 8pm on September 11 on the Theatre Website. Parent meeting for the show will follow the first rehearsal Monday, September 14 at 5:00!

ACADEMIC EXTENSION ACADEMIC EXTENSION

You may have noticed on your student’s schedule the “Academic Extension” time. This is a designated 32 minutes each day we call Wolf Time. Each student is assigned a Wolf Time teacher that will focus on Literacy, math fluency, organizational skills, and social emotional learning. Wolf Time takes place every day between First and Second Hour.

ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL ARRIVAL/DISMISSAL

Our school day begins at 8:20 and ends at 3:20. The doors open each day at 7:30 for students. From 7:30 – 8:00, students are welcome to sit in the commons area and hang out with friends. At 8:00, students can go to their classrooms, play games in the gym, visit the library, or walk the halls. Beginning at 8:15, we ask students to go to their first hour class by 8:20 to start the day.

See the attached map for the traffic flow for arrival and dismissal. As cars come around the back of the building, we do have two lanes open for cars to take. Once vehicles get close to the building, we ask the two lanes to zipper into one lane along the curb next to the building. There are signs along the car loop indicating when this should occur. When dropping off, students can enter the building through any of the three entrances on the West side of the school. Once students are dropped off, cars may enter the left-hand lane to exit the drop off area.

During dismissal, students exit the building through each of three doors on the West side of MT. Once students are loaded, cars may enter the left-hand lane and exit the car loop.

***Students should not be dropped off or picked up from the parking lot. We do not want students crossing traffic during this busy time. Please help us keep our students safe by using the curb to drop off and pick up.

All bus riders exit the building on the East side and load in the bus lane at the front of the school.

8th Grade Girl's Flag Football 8th Grade Girl's Flag Football

Girls Play Flag Football is offering an 8th grade girls (14U) flag football league this fall. No previous experience is necessary, and the league is a great opportunity for girls to learn the basics of flag football, compete, and have fun with friends and classmates.

With girls entering high school next year, this is a great opportunity to play alongside other girls from their school before they compete together at the high school level.

Practices and games will take place on Sundays.

8th Grade parent Adam Myer will be coaching a team this fall. Families can request Adam as their coach when registering, and we will do our best to keep as many schoolmates together on the same team as possible.

Season Dates: September 11–November 22, 2026
Registration Deadline: August 31, 2026

For more information or registration details, please contact Adam Myer at adamgmyer@gmail.com.
