I hope that this was a great week for you and your family! I was fortunate to experience a deeply impactful speaker Coach Stroker this week at a conference. His overall message of the power of perspective is critical to my work at Kings Road School and personally. Please see his website for information about Coach Stroker.

On Monday, October 9, 2023 there is no school for students on Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day. We will see the students back to school on Tuesday, October 10, 2023. Have a wonderful weekend!

This week the students participated in the first bus drill of the school year. School Bus emergency evacuation drills shall be conducted twice each school year according to the New Jersey Administrative Code (NJAC 6A:27-11.2). The students reviewed bus rules with Dr. Koop and Mrs. Sims and practiced exiting out of the back of the bus emergency exit. Another bus drill will be conducted in the spring.

"This week we celebrated Week of Respect." One of the projects was Kindness Bingo. We have extended the deadline for completed Bingo Cards to Friday, October 13th. Students should return completed and signed (by parents) Bingo Cards to their homeroom teacher. The Kings Road School teachers and staff are top-notch professionals dedicated to the progress of the KRS students. To monitor student progress, we analyze student assessment data such as Star data and benchmark assessments to make informed decisions about teaching and learning. Consistent monitoring, allows us to support the students' changing needs and adjust our instructional practices accordingly. We love our data!

Our Halloween parade will begin promptly at 1:15 PM on October 31, 2023.

• Class parties for students only will follow the parade.
• Class pictures will occur behind the school immediately after the conclusion of the parade.
• Children may bring their costumes to school and change after lunch or students may wear their costumes to school.

Halloween costumes should be school appropriate:

• Masks are allowed as long as vision is clear.

• Costumes should allow for easy walking.

• Costumes should not represent violence. (no blood or weapons)

• Please no scary clown costumes.

• We love when adults wear costumes, but please no masks.

Join Madison Music & Arts for cider, donuts, and conversation at a General Interest Meeting on Wednesday, October 18 @7pm in the MHS Cafeteria. District Arts Coordinator, Stacy Snider, will be our featured guest speaker. We will also discuss: What is MMA’s role & opportunities to get involved; This year’s arts & fundraising events; District Concerts - love or hate them - we want to know; and the future of MMA & the arts in Madison.
