I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! We are headed to the final 3 weeks of the semester, two weeks of instruction and semester exams. This is an important time of the academic calendar so please take some time to reiterate finishing strong with your child (I am doing the same with mine!)

Details for semester exams and the schedule can be found below. Please take a few moments to read and review the schedule for Dec. 13-16. It is a little different compared to our daily schedule. Also, make note of the details for absences. Please contact the attendance office if there is a potential absence during exam week.

The Jerome Principal's Advisory Committee will be hosting a Community Toy Drive supporting Dublin PD's "Fill A Cruiser" Event.

• Please drop off unwrapped gifts at the Dublin Jerome Main Office through Friday, Dec. 2. We will deliver the gifts to the Justice Center on Dec. 3.

• To help represent all age groups, please consider donating presents for children in two age categories: newborn to 10 years old and 11 to 17 years old. Gift cards are also accepted and can make an enjoyable gift for young adults.

As the seasons change, please remind your student, if they drive to leave a little but earlier. Some reminders about tardies (pg. 55 Student Handbook):

• 3rd Offense: Detention and further infractions will result in escalation of discipline.
• Tardies to school reset every quarter.

• Work on the building inside and out is progressing nicely. There will be significant interior work on the existing parts of the building beginning Winter Break.
• When we come back in January it will be exciting to see their progress!

Below is the link to our First Semester Exam Schedule for Dec. 13-16. Semester Exam account for 10% of the overall grade for students for the semester. These are important summative assessments that allow students to demonstrate learning.

Students are expected to take their exam during the scheduled times. Students are not permitted to move exams without prior administrative approval. (Please see pg. 17 of Student Handbook for specific details.)

Families that have planned to leave early for a trip must contact the Attendance Office to complete a pre-arranged absence form prior to exam week. Any student missing an exam will complete their exams when they return. All exams that need to be rescheduled will need prior administrative approval.

Please contact the appropriate administrator, school counselor or attendance if you have specific questions. We have asked teachers that receive emails from families forward to attendance. This process ensures that all parties are communicated with to make appropriate changes.

• The window to purchase closes in April and once that window closes, there will be no other way to secure a yearbook. Yearbooks are delivered the following fall.

Last weekend, DJHS's Junior State of America (JSA) chapter attended the Ohio River Valley's Fall State! JSA is a non-partisan youth organization that aims to nurture students' debate skills and guide them into being effective civic participants.

Since the Ohio River Valley encompasses Ohio, Indiana, West Virginia, Tennessee, and Kentucky, conventions are an amazing way for students to meet peers from other schools and states. At Fall State, Divija Kandru, Kanav Azad, Varun Dommeti, Maggie Capobianco, and Isabel George were granted the amazing opportunity to listen to keynote speaker Representative Lightbody, speak in debates, learn about activist initiatives, and engage in thought talks! This convention was the first time Jerome was able to have an independent chapter in over 3 years, and we were able to accomplish so much: we unanimously won the Chapter Caucus, had delegates debating in every block, and had Isabel George win a best speaker gavel!

We’ll be holding an informational meeting in room C106 after school on Tuesday, November 29th beginning at 3pm. If you intend to participate in Indoor/Winter Track and Field, please plan to attend this meeting. Also, be on the lookout for communications regarding Spring Track and Field after Thanksgiving Break.
