Message From Administration

Hello Middle Gator Parents/Guardians,

We are well into the swing of school. Routines have been established and are becoming second nature. Thank you for your patience as we continued to improve on our drop off and pick up procedures. Please note that there is now construction on Rhodes so be mindful of the signs where no parking is not allowed.

We continue to remind students about the following:

  • Tardies – to school and class. Students must arrive at school and to class on time. First hour starts at 7:50.

  • Drop off times - students may arrive at 7:00 and stay in the gym until our doors open at 7:30.

  • Pick up - Parents are to pick up their children on time at dismissal. Students are to remain in the front of the building and not wander off. The church steps are not an area to gather or wait for pick up.

  • Clubs and Activities – have started. We have clubs and activities on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays until 3:30.

  • Dress Code - we continue to remind students of our dress code policy. See attachment as a guide when your child/ren are getting ready for school.

  • Backpacks/Bookbags and Lockers - students should now be using their lockers to store their backpacks/bookbags during the day. All sixth graders received a GSA draw string bag. Students can carry these with them to and from class and are a perfect place to keep their chromebooks.

  • Sacred Seven - The first and last seven minutes of each class are referred to as the sacred seven. This is a time when not only is attendance taken but the objectives and learning for the day are presented and discussed. The last seven minutes are devoted to reflecting on the learning, winding up lessons, discussing homework and the use of exit slips to check for understanding and clarification. These minutes are a time when students should not be making passes to leave the classroom – unless it is an emergency.

  • Hall Passes - Students are here to learn and therefore should not be out of class. However, we do use an electronic hall pass system, should there be those times when a student needs to check out of their classroom for an emergency bathroom break or to grab something they may have forgotten in their locker. Students have plenty of time to use the restroom during passing periods. Classes for the most part are relatively near each other if not on the same floor.

Our attendance continues to be good. Thank you for helping your child/ren get organized in the morning and out on time. Being in class, listening, and participating helps them stay on top of class work and their learning.

Please remind your child to eat a quick breakfast at home, especially if they are running late. We want to make sure all students arrive on time to their first period class ready to learn.

🗣️ Talk it out: Online Safety

Topic to chat with your middle schooler about this week:

Staying safe online is an important skill for middle schoolers. Use these points to spark a conversation at home:

  1. Protect Personal Information – Never share full name, address, phone number, or school online.

  2. Think Before You Post – Once something is shared, it can be permanent.

  3. Be Careful with Strangers – Don’t accept requests or messages from people you don’t know in real life.

  4. Report and Block – Tell a trusted adult if someone makes you uncomfortable online.

  5. Balance Screen Time – Set limits and take breaks for offline fun.

Family conversation starter:
Ask your child: What would you do if someone online asked you for personal information or made you feel uncomfortable?
