A Message From The Principal A Message From The Principal

September 2026

September 1, 2026

Dear Malley Drive Families,

Thank you for helping us get off to such a STRONG START to the 2027-2027 school year. We had our best turnout ever for our Back to School Meet and Greet event and during our first week of school, we had 91% attendance which exceeded our schoolwide goal of 90%. This is outstanding news and a great celebration!! Thank you to all of you for prioritizing positive school attendance and for making sure your children arrive each day before 7:45 when the bell rings. Each month we will be celebrating students who have earned perfect attendance for that month with a special certificate, a special treat at lunch and students will have their picture featured on our main bulletin board by the office. Please do all you can to help your child earn these awards by earning PERFECT ATTENDANCE in the month of September!

During our first weeks of school, scholars have been busy learning about showing HEART. At Malley Drive, showing HEART represents our character traits that are the foundation for how we treat one another and for how we behave. Each morning on announcements, we recite the Pledge of Allegiance, our Malley Drive Mission Statement and our Malley Drive Motto all together. Please spend some time this month talking with your child about what our HEART character traits mean and what it means to show HEART at school.

Mission Statement:

“At Malley Drive Elementary we are scholars who are empowered to embrace learning and always achieve our personal best!”

Malley Drive Motto:

I am a Malley Drive scholar who is…

Hard-working

Empathetic

Accountable

Respectful

Trustworthy

Today, I will lead and learn with HEART!

In the classroom, scholars are learning about HEART habits for learning:

H- Heads up, Hands to self and Hoods off

E- Ears open, follow directions

A- Ask and Answer questions with a complete sentence

R- Respect other people, places and things

T- Track the Speaker

Coffee with the Principal:

Thank you to all of our families who joined us for our first Coffee with the Principal, yesterday. During this meeting, we introduced our Safety and Security Liaison, Letitia Ramirez, who described her role in helping us maintain a safe and secure school. She also discussed the different safety drills your children will participate in this year. Additionally, we discussed our recently released CMAS data and our schoolwide goals for this year. Please join me on September 21st from 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM for our next Coffee with the Principal to learn about some of the ways you can support your scholar at home.

Morning Arrival and Supervision: As a reminder, breakfast supervision begins at 7:30. Students arriving for breakfast must enter through the Main Front Entrance. It is imperative that no student arrive prior to 7:30, as there is no breakfast supervision before this time.

At 7:35, students are welcome to walk around to the back of the building to line up by their classroom door. Outside supervision begins at 7:35. At 7:45 am, the bell rings for students to enter the classroom. If students are not in their classroom by 7:50 am, they are considered tardy. Please partner with us and ensure your child arrives at school every day on time and ready to learn.

Afternoon Dismissal: School is dismissed at 2:35 pm every day of the week. Please use the hug and go lane or park along the street if you plan to meet your student at the door.

Animals on Campus: We know that pets are part of our families and are well loved! However, animals are not permitted on school grounds. For the safety of all our students please leave your furry friends at home and do not bring them on campus.

Attendance: Please help us reach our attendance goal of 90% Average Daily Attendance this year by doing all you can to ensure your student does not miss more than 1 day of school each month. Our goal is to have at least 90% of our students in school every day. According to state law and District attendance policy, when your student misses more than 10 days in a school year, they are considered chronically absent. Research shows that students who have excellent school attendance have higher academic and social outcomes. Please do all you can to ensure your student is present and ready to learn every day.
