A Note from Mrs. Mathe
This week, our 3rd grade students dazzled us with their performance of The Holly Jolly Pirates of Pinataville! WOW! Their hard work truly shined, and it certainly paid off.
Next week we’re so excited for a week full of holiday fun here at Hines! A huge thank you to our PTO for all of their hard work putting on Jingle Jam for our students during specials on Thursday—it’s sure to be a festive favorite!
Parents, we can’t wait to welcome you to your child’s holiday party this week. It’s always such a joy to celebrate this special season together.
We’ll wrap up the week with a holiday sing-along on Friday morning for our students and staff—a perfect way to share some cheer and kick off the winter break!
Let’s make this week full of laughter, joy, and Husky spirit!
Lost and Found Items
As the weather drops and students come to school with more winter accessories, we ask that you label all of your child's hats, gloves, jackets and scarves. Our PTO volunteers for the lost and found check the lost items regularly, and if they are labeled, we are able to return them to their owner.
Morning Arrival Concerns
As the weather gets colder, we have seen an increase in the number of cars in the morning drop-off line. Many vehicles are arriving right before the 7:55 a.m. tardy bell, which creates congestion and delays. Please remember that our doors open at 7:25 a.m., and traffic is very light between 7:25–7:45 a.m. Arriving earlier will help ensure a smoother and quicker drop-off for everyone.
We have also noticed an increase in parents “cutting” the line or pulling into parking spots to let students cross through traffic. We have asked families several times not to do this for safety reasons; however, since it is still occurring, we will begin blocking the inside lane to prevent this. When cars park and walk students across, it creates safety concerns and slows down the entire line as vehicles must stop and wait. We have also noticed parents pulling in the bus lot to send their children across the staff parking lot, again this is a huge safety concern and not an approved drop off area. Please plan to leave a few minutes earlier to avoid the rush and help keep everyone safe.
To help the line move efficiently, please make sure your child is ready to exit the vehicle when you reach the drop-off zone. Students should have their backpack, lunchbox, water bottle, shoes and jacket on or in hand, so they can exit quickly and safely from the passenger side when the door opens.
Thank you for your cooperation and for helping us keep arrival safe, smooth, and on time for all Huskies. We appreciate your partnership!
UPDATE: After sending this plea earlier this week for your help, check out today's amazing car rider line!!!! We finished really close to on time!!!! THANK YOU!!!!!!

Student Spotlight
We are excited to introduce a new section in The Hines Herald called Student Spotlight! This feature will celebrate the amazing achievements, acts of kindness, and positive contributions of our Huskies both inside and outside of school. In this section, we will highlight students who have gone above and beyond—whether it’s reaching a personal goal, helping others, or making a difference in the community. We can’t wait to share these inspiring stories and honor the incredible ways our students shine!
