CAASPP Testing

Each spring, 11th-grade students participate in the California Science Test (CAST) and the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). The computer-based tests measure what your student knows and can do, and students can use the results from the CAASPP ELA and Math tests to qualify for exemptions on CSU and Community College placement tests so that they are able to move directly into college-level courses upon enrollment. Successful completion of the CAASPP tests is also required for students to graduate College & Career Ready, to earn the State Seal of Biliteracy, and to earn the Golden State Seal Merit Diploma.

Practice and training tests can be found by following this link.

To support early detection, in collaboration with UC Davis Health, free heart screenings for students and young adults (aged 12-25) will be offered on Sunday, March 22nd at Rio Americano High School. These screenings can help identify potential heart conditions and provide families with valuable peace of mind.

Artist of the Week

Mr. Bill's artist of the week is advanced ceramics 1 student, Ana Diaz. Title of her piece is "My Valentine" Medium: Ceramics; Artist Statement: My idea came from the fact that I wanted to dedicate a piece to someone I love and appreciate which is my boyfriend. I first sketched the things he likes and decided from there how to incorporate it into a piece like a bowl, plate, sculpture, etc. I decided that a plate would work best, then added details that have to do with his interests and hobbies. For example, his favorite color is red, and he plays baseball, so I included a bat and a baseball. I used a bright red for the base of my piece to make the baseball and bat pop and really catch the eye. Ultimately, my inspiration came from someone who I deeply appreciate, my boyfriend, and wanting to dedicate a piece to him that shows my gratitude towards him.
