MMS SCHOOL CALENDAR
OPEN HOUSE PRESENTATIONS
At Marietta Middle School, we are committed to keeping our families informed, connected, and engaged in their student’s learning. This year, we are excited to offer our APTT/Open House presentations virtually, giving families the flexibility to explore important information whenever it works best for their schedule.
Through your child’s Schoology account, families will be able to access teacher presentations, classroom expectations, helpful resources, and information about what students will be learning throughout the year. For added convenience, presentation and video links are also provided below.
Families will also have an opportunity to connect personally with their child’s advisement teacher during Conference Week, October 19–23.
We hope this flexible format makes it easy for every family to stay informed and involved as we continue building a strong partnership between home and school.

STUDENT SPOTLIGHT
We are so proud to recognize this special student, Serenity White, who is truly a positive force in our school! She is a kind and supportive friend who makes others feel welcome and valued. She especially shines through her excellent communication skills with both students and staff. At her class Lemonade Stand, she confidently connects with customers, works well with her classmates, and helps create a positive experience for everyone. Her kindness, confidence, and joyful spirit make our school a better place!
STAFF SPOTLIGHT
This month, we are proud to recognize Dr. Kevin Harris, our 8th grade Math Connections teacher. Dr. Harris consistently goes the extra mile to support our students, both inside and outside the classroom. Whether actively monitoring the hallways or providing valuable support during morning cafeteria duty, his presence helps create a safe, positive, and welcoming school environment. We appreciate Dr. Harris and his many contributions to the Marietta Middle School community!
COUNSELOR CORNER
Our counseling team is here to support every student’s social, emotional, and academic growth. Whether it’s stress management, goal setting, friendship challenges, or planning for the future, we’re here to listen and help. Students can stop by our office anytime, or reach out to schedule a private chat.
ATTENDANCE MATTERS AT MMS
As school counselors, we want to remind families that consistent attendance is one of the biggest keys to student success. When students are present every day, they not only keep up with their learning but also build strong routines, relationships, and confidence. Missing even a few days can make it harder to catch up and stay connected. By making school a priority, we help our students develop responsibility and set the stage for future success in high school and beyond.
Email MMSattendance@marietta-city.k12.ga.us for attendance questions and absence/tardy notes.
YOUSCIENCE FOR 7TH GRADE
During the week of September 14, all 7th-grade students will participate in the YouScience Aptitude & Career Discovery assessment as part of our school counseling program.
YouScience gives students an opportunity to learn more about their natural aptitudes, strengths, interests, and potential career pathways. Through a series of activities, students will begin identifying areas in which they naturally excel and explore careers they may not have considered before.
The goal isn’t for students to choose a career in 7th grade! Instead, YouScience helps them begin making connections between who they are, what they do well, and the many possibilities available to them in the future.
Once students have completed all required activities, they will be able to view their full results. Families can explore the results together by having their student log in to YouScience through ASPEN. We encourage you to take a look together and use the results as a starting point for conversations about future classes, interests, college and career pathways, and goals.
We are excited for our 7th graders to learn a little more about themselves and discover new possibilities for their future!
For 8th grade students, they will have the opportunity to learn about “Dual Enrollment” courses and what that means, going into high school and future plans. As parents/guardians, you can still have your student click into YouScience, Aptitude and Career Discovery, and analyse their results from last year.
