Additional information below regarding the Cell Phone Expectations and The Commons app.

Good Evening,

We are providing an update to the Sunday Message regarding The Commons app. We appreciate the thoughtful feedback and questions we have received from students and families. We also recognize that we could have provided more detailed information about the app and its functionality in our initial communication, and we apologize for any confusion or uncertainty this may have caused.

For this week, we are going to slow down the implementation and allow families some time to learn more about The Commons. Nothing is mandatory for students or families at this time, and there is no expectation that students download or begin using the app this week. We will continue to educate students during the first few days of school and will provide additional information to families, including details about how the platform works, privacy and security, and our implementation timeline. We anticipate setting a date in early October for full implementation, giving students, families, and staff time to become familiar with The Commons and ask questions. We will also host a virtual parent information session in September. More information about that session and next steps will be shared in a future message.

Thank you for your patience and partnership as we take the time to ensure our students, families, and staff have the information they need. Our goal is to create a school environment where students can be present, engaged, and focused on learning.

• Thursday, 9/3 - First Day of School for Grade 9 only. Early Release 10:45 Dismissal
• Friday, 9/4 - First Day of School for all Grades 9 thru 12. Full Day
• Monday, 9/7 - Labor Day. No School
• Monday, 9/14 - Clubs Begin
• Tuesday & Wednesday, 9/22 and 9/23 - School Picture Days. More information to come.

• Incoming juniors and seniors who are planning to take the SATs can register at www.collegeboard.org. New this year, the College Board reserves 40% of testing seats exclusively for WHS students for the October and May exams.
• Cost $68. Fee Waivers available.

Fall Season Update

• If you have not completed an application, please be sure to do it now.
• Any application submitted after the deadline may be placed on a wait list.
• Payments must be made in full by October 1, 2026. No bus ID will be distributed until payment has been made.

We hope you will join us and be a part of this fantastic adventure. The WHTC are hosting their informational meeting on Thursday, September 3rd at 7:00pm in the Theater at Maria Weston Chapman. This meeting is open to all students that may wish to participate and their families. Auditions for cast members will begin on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00pm in the Theater at Maria Weston Chapman. Signups for anyone interested in stage crew/technical crew/costumes/hair/makeup/etc. will also take place on Tuesday, September 8th at 6:00pm in the Theater at MWC.
