The Literacy Link
MAY the good Reading-weather continue! April showed us excellent participation with nightly reading, with 47 readers, and 37 of them being "consistent participants"! Please remember to write your student's first, last name and the name of their teacher on the Reading sheets. The nightly Reading sheets for May will be due May 30th.
All students in grades 3-5 have completed ELA MCAP! Way to ROCK OUT the state assessment! To show our appreciation of their hard work, students were given a Reading dog tag to add to their collection of Math dog tags. Students are gearing up for Math MCAP during this month.
Tier 2 Interventions are still growing strong! FES grades 1-5 have only 5 students who need to master Letter Names and Sounds! What an accomplishment! Our Kindergarten students are working extra hard to get this skill mastered, as well. Also, for the month of April, 6 students in grades 3-5 have exited Tier 2 Interventions, for the year. Finally, there are 13 students who need to master ONLY 1 more skill to exit Tier 2 status!!!!!!!
LET"S GO FALCONS!
The Calculation Station
April showers bring May flowers, and boy are we blooming here!!! In April, we crowned 21 new Mathletes in grades 3, 4, and 5 bringing our grand total up to 78! We are only 22 away from our goal of 100 by the end of the school year. Keep practicing those multiplication facts at home! We got this, Falcons!!
Our 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders are going to be able to show what they know this month as we take the math portion of our state testing (MCAP). The dates for MCAP are May 6-9 for Grade 4 and May 13-16 for Grades 3 and 5. Please do your best to ensure that all students are at school on time those days and that they get a good night's rest each night. We know our Falcons have learned so much this year, and we can't wait for them to have the opportunity to show how much they have grown.
Kindergarten, First, and Second Grade students have been working super hard lately! Their math vocabulary is growing tremendously! Words like sum, difference, fewer, greater, equations, and expressions have become part of everyday language for them. They are adding, subtracting, solving word problems, and most importantly, working together in teams to share their thinking. My how we have bloomed!!!
Keep up the great work, Falcons! You are a-May-zing!!!
