🐻Grizzly News!
Greetings, Millswood Families! 🐻💚
Friday was full of school spirit! It was fun seeing our Grizzlies showing off their costumes and bringing some extra energy to campus. I hope everyone enjoyed a fun Halloween weekend! As we get ready for a full week ahead, remember to set your clocks back one hour if you haven’t already. ⏰
🍬 An Exact Guess!
Congratulations to Maria Alvarez, seventh grade, who won our candy corn contest with an exact guess of 280! Now that’s some sweet estimation!
🎃 The Mystery Continues…
Our Green Pumpkin is still missing! No one has found it yet, which means the Grand Prize is still up for grabs. Students, stay tuned for another hint at lunch!
📚 Keep the Momentum Going
We’re getting knee-deep into the quarter, making this a great time for students to check their grades, complete missing assignments, and ask for help when needed. Remember, Mission Zero is available before school, and tutoring is available after school. Please reach out if you need more information about either opportunity—we’re happy to help!
Thank you, Millswood families, for your continued support. Let's have another great week!
Go Grizzlies! 🐻💚
Front Office Reminders
Attendance Matters!
Being at school every day and on time helps students stay connected, build strong habits, and keep up with learning. Every day brings opportunities to grow, participate, and succeed!
Please help your Grizzly arrive ready to learn, schedule appointments outside school hours when possible, and notify the office when your student is absent. If attendance challenges arise, reach out—we’re here to help! 💚

Leadership Update:
- Millswood will be partnering with the Salvation Army to help the unhoused community in Lodi with our Winter Warmth Drive. We will be collecting new items like hand warmers, socks, beanies, scarves, and gloves/mittens to donate in the hopes of warming up Lodi's most vulnerable citizens this winter. Please send your donations to your child's 2nd period class and earn Minga points while doing good for those in need. Donations will be accepted through Friday, December 4th.
- Yearbooks are on sale! If you would like to purchase a yearbook at the lowest price, now is the time. We sold out of yearbooks last year, so order early. Visit this link to buy. Yearbooks are $30 until December 31.
One Little Dot, So Much More!
What began as a celebration of International Dot Day in Mrs. Shinn’s Art & Design classes grew into a colorful collaboration involving nearly 150 students and staff members!
Toward the end of the first quarter, our Grizzlies celebrated creativity, courage, and collaboration through an activity inspired by Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot. In the story, a student named Vashti doubts her ability to draw until her teacher encourages her to “Just make a mark, and see where it takes you.” One simple dot helps her discover her creative voice and build confidence.
Our Grizzlies took that message to heart! Using a variety of art materials, students and staff created dots of different sizes, colors, and patterns. Together, their individual contributions became a bold, bright mural that now welcomes everyone who passes through the hallway.
Thank you, Mrs. Shinn, for helping our students leave their mark on Millswood—and reminding us how much we can create together! 💚
Student Recognition-- Lodi Adopt-A-Child
Lodi Adopt-A-Child held an Art Show called “Windows of Imagination” for students 3rd through 12th grade. 9 winning art pieces were selected by a panel of judges to be digitally reproduced and displayed in the windows of the building. On Oct 22, members of the community gathered together for the ribbon cutting. The Art show was a partnership of Lodi Adopt-A-Child, Community Partnership for Families and the Lodi Arts Foundation. Other key partners at the event were F&M Bank and the Lodi Chamber of Commerce. Congratulations to Daisy H (7th grade) and Ameryka L (8th grade). We’re so proud of our Grizzly artists who were selected! Be sure to visit the Lodi Adopt-A-Child building. Pine Street just got a lot brighter!
