Important Back-to-School Updates
Annual Information Update
The Infinite Campus Annual Update is an online process where parents and guardians can update their student's information and ensure it's accurate for the upcoming school year. This update typically includes contact information, household details, and emergency contacts.
- If my information has not changed since last school year, do I still need to complete the Annual Update? Yes, the district requires student information to be updated yearly.
- Why is updating my information important? The school needs to have up-to-date contact information to reach you quickly if there's an emergency involving your child.
Follow THIS LINK to complete the Annual Update.
Chromebooks Required for Class
Students are required to use school-issued Chromebooks only during class. Personal laptops, iPads, tablets, and other electronic devices will not be permitted. Chromebooks can be picked up at Open House or on the first day of school in the Media Center.
New Absence Request Procedures
SWCS is excited to launch an innovative new tool for parents and guardians this school year in the form of a new Absence Request tool within the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (web or mobile application)! Parents and guardians can use this new Absence Request tool to submit a request that informs the office in advance when their student is not going to be in school. After the request is processed, an attendance record is created for the student. The tool helps parents log all types of absences at the ease of their fingertips, while also automating administrative tasks for school front offices in the process.
As a reminder, Ohio law requires written notification of all types of absences, including full-day absences, late arrivals, and early dismissals. Read more at https://www.swcsd.us/Attendance.aspx.
Free and Reduced-Price Lunch Applications - Apply Today!
It is that time of year again to complete a Free and Reduced-Price Meal Application! For many families, they wonder if they qualify and for some that believe they do not qualify…sometimes they are surprised that they do end up qualifying and avoid unnecessary costs and meal debt in the process. As a rule of thumb, we suggest “it does not hurt to apply!” Free and Reduced-Price Meal Applications need to be completed annually each school year.
Free and Reduced-Price Lunch eligibility is determined annually at the federal level using a sliding scale based upon a household’s combined income. Once a family qualifies, they receive either Free or Reduced-Price breakfast and lunch. Additionally, qualifying families are eligible for academic fee waivers for school supplies.
Parking Permit Registration
Any student desiring to park on school property must obtain a parking permit each school year. Parking permits for the 2025-2026 school year are $25 for the entire school year.
- The deadline to apply is September 5.
- Students must bring a completed application, their driver's license, and proof of insurance to the CCHS Activity Clerk, Tammy Jochem.
- Once the parking permit application is submitted, the fee will be added to your student's account in Infinite Campus.
PTSA Spiritwear
Our PTSA is holding a spiritwear sale. The sale will close on August 24. Fundraisers for PTSA help raise funds for scholarships for CCHS seniors.
First Week of School Reminders
Morning Traffic Pattern: When dropping off at the beginning of the day, please do not use the front parking lot as a drop off location. Doing so increases the pedestrian traffic across a busy drive and causes congestion for visitors and staff in the front parking lot. Only use the right lane of the front drive for dropping off students. We appreciate your attention to this matter to help increase the safety for our students. In an effort to make sure drivers do not cut through the front parking lot in the morning, barriers will close the exit closest to the flag pole during the morning.
Morning Traffic Pattern - Front of School
Student Drop-Off: Student drop off is in the front of the building. Students arriving before 7:45 will be waiting in the Main Gym or the cafe for breakfast.
Schedules: Students should look up their schedule in Infinite Campus as it is possible that some schedules have been adjusted after schedule pick up.
School Picture Make Ups: Students that did not have their school picture taken at schedule pick up may have their school picture taken on Thursday, September 4, during their lunch period.
Adult Identification: When picking up a student from school during the school day, please be prepared to provide a picture ID at the Front Desk or Attendance Office.
Cell Phones
As students, staff, and parents likely already know, this summer Ohio Governor Mike DeWine signed House Bill 96 into law, requiring every school district in Ohio to restrict cell phone usage during school hours and aims to minimize student use of cell phones in K-12 schools. Last year, SWCS began substantial steps towards achieving this goal through our #BePresentCampaign prohibiting the use of cell phones during instructional times in all schools.
Heading into the 2025-2026 school year, students will be expected to have devices on silent mode and out of sight to keep their attentiveness on learning. This includes restricted access during lunch and study halls. Families can help our schools in reinforcing these healthy boundaries, by discussing the new expectations with their student(s) at home. Working collaboratively with families to reinforce these expectations, we look forward to helping students understand the importance of a distraction-free classroom to start the year as a part of our #BePresent campaign to make oneself fully present in daily learning.

SWCS Transportation Information
2025-2026 Transportation Opt-in/Opt-Out (all families)
As South Western City Schools look ahead to the summer with transportation planning for the 2025–2026 school year, we are asking all families to complete our K–12 Transportation Opt-In/Opt-Out Form. Your participation will help us build more efficient and effective routes to support students to maximize route efficiencies and avoid reserving empty seats for families not intending to use the bus.

A note about 11th/12th grade Transportation
Each year, many families—particularly those with students in grades 11 and 12—choose not to use the bus daily. However, a seat is still reserved "just in case." By collecting accurate information about which students plan to use district transportation, we can reduce the number of unused seats, optimize bus routes, and improve efficiency across our fleet.
Your assistance is vital and greatly appreciated as we work to deliver safe and reliable transportation for all students!
FAQs
Who should complete this form?
All South Western City Schools families with students in grades K–12 should complete this form to indicate their intent to use (Opt-In) or not use (Opt-Out) district transportation for the 2025–2026 school year. Please complete one form per student.
What about high school juniors and seniors (grades 11–12)?
Students in grades 11 and 12 must opt in to be assigned a daily seat on a school bus. If a student has not opted in but later needs to ride, a seat can be requested through their school office. This request may take up to 24 hours to process.
I don’t know my child’s student ID—where can I find it?
Student ID numbers can be found in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal (select your child’s picture to view their ID), within your child’s SWCSD email address, or on printed student progress reports. You can also contact ic.help@swcsd.us for assistance.
